I get paid hourly, for hauling water. Only some companies around here do that. The rest pay by the load, and from what I hear it is not much.. We also run a log for legal purposes, and our time in and out have to match the log.

I love the line "Higher pay produces superior safety performance..."!
No kidding, Capt Obvious!
You pay peanuts, you will have a bunch of monkeys working for you! (Not a racial comment! )
Amazing! If a government study can come to that conclusion and we all know how moronic the government is, why haven't the trucking companies figured it out???
Could it be they just don't want to pay more, as long as there are monkeys willing to drive for peanuts?drvrtech77 Thanks this. -
hey double dragon who do you drive for that pays hourly? and what is the starting rate if you know, thank you. bob

And while we're at it,,, why are we exempt from O/T? Might want to look into that too Senator.

i actually talked to a driver of a daycab, the company might of been Jet something or another....he said he was paid SALARY
we talked about it for a while, it was a true salary.....the same check every week, no matter how many hours or miles he runs
that would be awful....... -
Awful? Depends how how much that check is and how many hours he works!!
Rollover the Original Thanks this. -
think about it, if a company is going to pay you the same amount every week, they are going to run you ragged
he said he was doing 13-14 hours almost every day and was only grossing 800 a week -
I worked or salary for years as a manager. I was amongst the lowest paid in every company I worked for if you considered hours worked. NEVER AGAIN
Line 1 - no pay
Line 2 - minimal on call compensation, I'd be happy with $2/hr for this
Line 3 - by the mile
Line 4 - Hourly and subject to OT
By the way I_Hate_Minivans. I swear to it, I picked up a guy Thursday on a remote road way in the middle of nowhere who was walking with a big axe in his hand, much like in your picture. -
I am one of the rare ones. I get paid the the hour. I don't speed. I run legal. My time that I put in for my check has to match what my log book says. It was off once for 15 minutes, I did my math wrong. I got nastygrams from an auditor in my company for it. But even if you pay by the hour you will still get people that push the limits and speed. One of our drivers was running behind one day while going through CO. Instead of saying I won't make it he sped. Was have data devices in out trucks (aka little black box) and it registered 86 mph for an extended period of time. The bad part was nothing ever came about of it.
