Does anyone else notice that the majority of the threads trashing one company or another usually contain the phrase "after three months at ____________, or "I been here six weeks and now I'm going to_______" You never hear " I stuck it out for two years and things just never got better"
Here's what I think is happening... These guys/gals come fresh out of school with their eyes all glazed over and their minds filled with the all the ways they're gonna spend that 60 grand a first year driver is guarnteed to make. They can't wait to show their friends and family that brand new 2012 shaker the recruiter promised them along with guarnteed hometime every weekend. Then after 24hrs they get the backhand of reality. And that reality is not what was depicted in color brochure in the recruiters office. So, they can't believe CR England would treat them that way even though every old hand on here told them so. But that's ok cause they heard great things about Werner over on the "what ever you do don't go to Werner thread" and the cycle continues until a year later they have one year experience at four different companies then come back here and tell everyone how jacked up the transportation industry is. What do you guys think?

So what you're saying is the entire trucking industry sucks, and everyone should just take what they're given?
-
-
Take it or leave it, but it is what it is. -
I know...I just wonder if it will ever change for the better, or will it soon become an hourly pay job, where you will be happy to get $15/hour for. How low will drivers go, before the companies just donkey stomp them into nothing and start paying them peanuts...even smaller ones than they feed now.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a rookie myself. I have been with USA since Feb. and solo since April. I am a long ways from knowing the ins and outs of the trucking industry. But all I ever see is complaints of how companies treat drivers, but at the same time, drivers don't make the companies do different. The drivers have control of the company more than they realize, and if all the drivers would stick together instead of worried about, themselves, then the companies are going to attack everyone individually until they have the industry turned into their puppets...
What can be done by drivers as a whole to make things better for everyone? -
Yes they do. That's why my advice to you and to everyone else lookin for a starter company to get their foot in the door of the industry, go look elsewhere for this info. Not sure where to tell you to go to find it, but by all means, don't look here.
Sometimes you just gotta go out on a limb and pick one.
This site's good for a lot of things but unfortunately, it ain't worth a crap for being used as a tool to aid a new recruit in finding a company that fits them. Not saying its the site's fault, just some of the "clowns" that hang out here. -
I first started driving back in 82. It is what each person makes of it.
-
Exactly. In a lot of ways, I kinda pride myself for doing fairly well at one of the most hated companies on here.
-
I always made good money no matter where I drove corneileous, it was just always a matter of how much bs I was willing to put up with.
-
Unfortunately, yer gonna always be askin yerself how much bullsheeat yer willin' to put up with, regardless where yer paycheck comes from.
And yes, sometimes the grass is greener on the other side of the pasture, but there are times when that's nuthin' but an illusion.....
