Trailer flips over in Dundee

    DUNDEE - A semi-trailer carrying 40,000 pounds of peaches flipped on its side around 5 p.m. Saturday.

    Monroe County Sheriff's Deputy Ian Glick said the semi-truck was intending to go east and making a right-hand turn from Tecumseh St. onto Monroe St. in downtown Dundee when the trailer separated from the rear axles causing the trailer to tip.

    Deputy Glick said no one was injured during the accident. He said there was minor property damage to the roadway. The truck had to be towed.

    Traffic was delayed and routed around the semi-truck for more than two hours until the semi-truck was righted.

    Works for me. I cleared that intersection about 2:15 that day, so anything that happened went on after I left there. I delivered 50,000 of sugar to the cake mix plant in Monroe, about 12 miles east of there.

    Well lucky you Burk! WTF, how does a set of tandems FALL OFF the GD wagon? I've heard of them chrashing thru the ICC bumper, when they're unlocked and the brakes get jammed on, but not like this...

    Always a great thing, seeing Michigan featured prominently in the accident reports...

    Bottom line, without knowing or seeing what happened, we are left at the mercy of the reporter, who may not have had any knowledge of what happened and simply looked at the separated wheels, and made an assumption about what happened that may not be based on the reality of things mechanical. Just because they report a story doesn't mean that they actually understand what they are saying!!!
