Well, orientation week is done and I'm still here, so it's been good so far. Lots of paperwork and freshen up work since school. Did a good bit of trip planning for our first day of official training. Tomorrow is a lot of yard training and road testing. Lovin this move so far. I'll keep y'all posted.

Waiting for our first load for the week in New Bern, NC, headed to Grove City, PA. Trainer says I should get a couple hundred miles of driving in today. Everything is still going great, I just can't wait to get some serious wheel time today.

Orientation and training was two weeks in Pleasant Hill, NC. There were two guys there who were gonna be running out of Hagerstown and three fleet trainees. There was an 'agility' test that wasn't anything worse than what you'd face in a days work. Got my pulse up for sure, but I didnt feel like I was about to pass out or anything.

I'm in the passenger seat right now, heading towards the trainer's house for the last time. Leaving for Cuba, AL in the morning for final week eval. Should be heading towards the house in a week with a Monday morning load if everything goes right.

My trainer was really good about giving me progressively more wheel time each week. Early in the week I averaged about 300 miles each day, by the end of the week I was getting up around 500+ miles per day. A lot of how many miles you get will depend on who you get for a trainer.

Unfortunately, I was scheduled for a load that didn't run me by the house out of final week training. But at least I know this is going to be a rare occurance with McElroy.

Wow, last week can be summed up in 2 words, Murphy's Law. Good granny, truck wouldn't start Sunday morning, flat trailer tire on Monday, poorly loaded load on Tuesday, held up at a shipper on Wednesday, NJ Pike on Thursday, and didn't get back to the house 'til noon on Saturday.

In all fairness, a big part in not getting home until Saturday had a lot to do with the hurricane. But I ended up with a very nice week pay-wise, so no complaints on the back-side of things.

On my way to Baltimore in the morning.
