ND beet harvest

I did in Nd n Mn you work a 12 hr shift and times u may have to go over if your relief not show up you just got to follow what the man in the tractor tells you to do go forward or back and watch what gear your in to keep pace with him

 

Yes your paid by the hour, not the load. Hauling can be as short as 10 days, then some years it can take 4-5 weeks to complete. The weather determines this, too hot they shut down, too cold they shut down, and then of course rain.

One thing to keep in mind, your only paid for the hours your driving, so you will make the same amount of money no matter how long the hauling season lasts.

Another thing to be aware of is they allow more trucks,and 24 hr. to farmers with more acres to harvest. So a farmer with 600 acres will take the same amount of time to finish as a farmer with 2400 acres.

If you have the time to kill and can take whatever mothernature brings by all means Do It!! It is a blast and I look forward to it every year.

 

Yea it worth it like NDBADLAND says depends on the weather and up there ya never know what it going to do that time of yr

 

I do the beet harvest in NE every year. It's a hoot hauling from the field to the factory. Takes a little while to learn, but just watch and imitate the others. Ask questions if you don't quite get it. Have fun!

 

I worked for Wald farms in East Grand Forks for a few years. Good people to work for. They paid by the hour. and had good equipment
