And then some jackrabbit had to complicate things by adding the ketchup/catsup debate. Sheesh!

Actually CRE's training materials are pretty good. Even thier corny monthly safety video can genrally provide a at least one nugget of useful information.

But ... it's all in implementation. Like a 350 lb smoking instructer teaching driver health or like the Phase II trainer I spoke with at a fuel island - just started her lease, had a student, didn't know where the fuel tank was on her truck and was "amazed" at "how these trucks pick up speed going down a hill."

Amazed at how the truck picks up speed going down hill??? Wow, I guess someone didn't learn how gravity works.

    Nothing surprises me anymore.

In my opinion, any fleet with a lease purchase program is a bottom feeder that intelligent drivers will avoid at all costs. Never lease a truck from the people who control your freight.

OH MY GOSH! You hit on something we can actually AGREE on here! :yes2557: It is like people who build their business around one and only one source for their sales. It just isn't smart. But some folks just don't get it, and never will.

Yeah, once in a while a person can go on for years, maybe even making a decent living this way. But it just isn't smart to "put all your eggs in one basket."

This can be carried further as well. Don't have just one financial institution that has all your money. Just common sense.

I can see the humor in that but what difference does it make? Like his instructing is comin from him in the first place. Although, if you think about it, maybe its a good thing having a person like that teach what not to do....

I cant argue with this..... Thats one thing I think they really need to change is having these "freshly graduated trainees teachin trainees..... We got lucky, tho.... Our trainer had about 2 and a half years....

OK... Well, you are entitled to an opinion....
Why? As long as they are keeping me busy, why should it matter?
Hardly the same thing, Big D...

Like I told minivan hater up there, who cares?

Well, I guess since you don't feel the need to elaborate on the supposed dangers of letting them control my freight, I guess yer right.

Supposed? There is no "supposed" about it, it is fact. You are in a situation whereby you are in financial bondage to the entity that controls how much you make. You have no real control, you simply have the illusion of it. You have no recourse. Should CRE decide to starve you out there is nothing you can do about it. Nothing. You cannot take the truck to another company. You cannot take on some brokered loads to take up the slack. You cannot convert any equity you might have in the truck. And all it takes is one person that decides they don't like you.

It doesn't matter whether this works out in your favour or not (and for your sake I hope it does), but ignoring the facts of the situation is foolish. When people who have considerably more business experience than you are recommending in the strongest terms possible to never enter into these types of arrangements it would pay to at least understand why.

There is a reason there are virtually endless numbers of stories on this forum of these arrangements ending in tears for the leasee.

You are right, it isn't the same thing... it is worse. In the case of a business with a single-source customer at least they have the opportunity to source additional or alternate customers. You don't.

    And hopefully you care.
