Im looking at a volvo 670. I love the interior and turning radius but i hear they have electrical problems. What should i look for when looking at used volvos or should i pass all together? Thanks.
Any reports on volvo trucks?

I like a Volvo. I was driving a Freightliner and tried to trade for a 2007 670 Volvo. We could never get the deal done. We ended-up trading for a 2007 Western Star. We wanted a pre-emission motor.
I hear that a Volvo rides well. I think they look good for a areodynamic truck. There are a lot of them on the road.
I will be interested in what feed-back you get. Could you tell us about the truck? Year,Motor,Miles,Ect. I wish you well -
I have 2007 Volvo 780. The 780 rides pretty smooth and has a good turning radius. I would stay away from Volvo engines and go with the Cummins ISX equipped models. Volvo trucks are about 3000 lbs heavier than the Freightliner so you must beware how much fuel is in the tanks when being loaded. I am not very impressed with their mechanics.
stocktonhauler Thanks this. -
do not buy a volvo! they have a lot of plastic parts to make the truck lighter and they always break down! just ask truck owners at truck stops ! and most shops cannot fix volvo's they most of the time need to be repaired at the dealer!!i own a 2005 volvo 64T! here is an example = we had a problem with the pulley system and the alternator belts .the dealer wanted to fix it with a part 4 inches long that volvo charges $500 for .we just changed the pulley system for $100 and problem solved . here is another problem=the electrical /wiring.costs us thousands for that .the wiring set up is very flimsy and it cost us 3 dys down time the last time after mechanic spend hours rewiring only to find out that the wire to the computer came loose!volvo will put you in the poor house!!

Volvo is not simple truck. Pulleys are made of plastic but they easily may be changed with made of steel. We used to make pulleys and tentioners with Lathe!
Wiring - yep, not so many wires like in Mercedes, but... to many wires.
On US version wires are usually black and number marked, in Europe they use color wire marking.
but wires are not of so good quality like Mercedes use and there are some broken wires issues, especially with COE volvos.
On US marker Volvo do not use different wires for every system. There is only one Cab connector made by Deutch. and wires are usually damaged in places where wiring harness splits to different direction, look carefully under the dr. side of cabin and you will see potential points of damage.
As benefits of Volvo - safety, noise, warm inside cabine, smooth ride.LBZ Thanks this. -
I got an 2004 Volvo VNL670 and its nice. Nice ride, trying to sell it cause I just got a power upgrade 2001 volvo 670 500Hp. Very nice inside and out. It also has an APU on it.

Drove an 07 670 with 530hp ISX Cummins. Turning radius was great, all controls are nearby, tons of space, comfortable and very quiet. 530hp ISX with a 13 speed trans pulled super hard, never had any truck pass me on an incline. Milage was between 7 - 8.5 MPG, no speed limiter.

The last company I worked for had 04-06 Volvos, and they were junk! The power windows would go down on their own and wouldn't come back up, not fun in the middle of a WI winter! The door handles all ended up needing replacing, one driver had to crawl out of the window once because he couldn't get out. The exhuast brake valves all ended up leaking air and had to be replaced. Headlight harnesses would go bad. The heaters wouldn't work when you needed them because the outdoor air temp sensor would say it was 80 above when it was below zero out and the computer decided you didn't need heat. I could go on but I think you get the point...

My company's problems with Volvos were mostly caused by the truck computer not wanting to "get along with" the Cummins computer.
But with the 4 Volvos I've been assigned to, the only electrical problems I've had was a shorted wire "under the engine" that made my left headlight go out on a trip home from Seattle in a blizzard. No time to sit around at a dealer for 8 hours, I stopped at a Flying J in Montana and rigged up some speaker wire and a lighter socket plug to provide juice to the headlight from the cigarette lighter in the cab, just to get the load delivered on time and get it to my company's shop.
A Volvo without a Cummins is a PIECE OF #### though. We had a handful with the green painted engines and they SUCKED. No power, less than 5 MPG, and the jake brakes wouldn't do anything but make a little noise.
