When you have about 3 years and 500,000 miles you will know the answer to your own question.

When you have 7+ years and a million miles you'll be a veteran and you will still be learning.

I'm still working on getting my veteran status. With close to 800,000 miles I know how inexperienced I was with 200,000 miles.

Three years of driving all four seasons in 48 states gets a driver pretty seasoned. That has to include Northwest and East coast two lane grades, during winter, not just California wussie grades.

yup i know those types of places but my im happy to say my boss isnt like that. if you show up and work and keep the customers happy he's happy. and he appreciates the hard work you do for him. in november i got real sick and was out for 2 weeks and you know what i got 2 full paychecks for those 2 weeks i was in my bed being sick out of my mind. he didnt tell me i have to make it up, didnt take my vacation time away nothing, just told me get well and i better not come back until im 100% and then he told me take an extra day just to make sure. he gives us a christmas bonus, takes us out to eat with an open bar tab and get anything you want off the menu 3 times a year, we get 6 paid holidays 4th of july buys everyone a 30 rack. but you bust your ###, i'm on salary, in the summer, right now i'm puttin in 9 10 or 11, even sometimes 12 hour days, but in the winter when i work 6 or 7 hours its nice having the same pay check.

either way my point was i was ready to throw that away to do a lease to own until i found this website and i am very thankful to the older guys that share their knowledge about the trucking industry here.

Im not doing anything wrong if fact im doing pretty good. You see you know NOTHING about what you speek. Good luck takeing anything as a new otr driver. when Swift gives you 25 CPM do tell us how you take more! If you knew about trucking you would look at were i live, ask around no one even hires down here not that i want otr but the job i have now gives me what i need. Which happens to be a check that shuts up my wife she is the bread winner lol.. and really good home time cuz there are no local companys within 100 mi of me.

But who knows maybe you could go out there and land a 65k otr job that puts you home 35 days a year. live your life in that box sleeping in the piss stinking parking lots with the pancake flat walmart poop bags all around you.

    good luck and have fun!!
