I've never been in a big rig. What's all behind the driver's seat in the sleeper?

We're sworn to secrecy, it's a fraternal thing. You have to go through trucking school to find out.

P.S.- don't tell anyone I told ya that..

You can learn exact specifications by going to truckpaper dot com. Look at different trucks and they will give the sleeper type and size. Google the sleeper name or visit the manufacturers website and they will have pictures and layouts.

There is a bed, sometimes an upper bunk too. Some have lower beds that fold up and you have a table with small booth type seats. All have some storage and most a place for hanging clothes. Some have refrigerators.

Drivers often add inverters if allowed. Sometimes they add microwaves, computers, TV's, game consoles and ocasionally SATV receivers.

While there are custom sleepers with showers, toilets and kitchens most of us will never see the inside of one. They can cost as much as a house. They are too expensive and make the tractor too long and too heavy for normal operation.

Just remember, as a company driver, most sleepers are pretty basic....
No fancy stuff....many trucks speced for company drivers will have nets rather than doors on cabinets ...kinda like a cheap rental car compared to a midle or upper level car of the same make....think a mattress, a cabinet to hold a tv, and space to hold your clothing under the bed....on the longer/bigger sleepers, you may have a floor to ceiling cabinet/desk on each side between the rear seat and the bed, or like in the smaller/shorter sleepers, zero space, and the mattress will be within reach of the drivers seat....

A cool looking pair of sunglasses!!:biggrin_2558:
most trucks have a small fan....
idle time is limited by most state regulations....so idleing to run the ac is limited...some trucks have a small generator that can run an ac, but limited numbers of companies have them...

Rememer, you can get a ticket for leaving a dog in a car without the ac on, but a trucker can get a ticket or fired for running the truck while not moving...:biggrin_2554:
