Thanks for the info, very helpful. From what RW said...i might want to reconsider going with Blume...has anyone else heard about long times between loads like that?

I70 is a major freight lane. E ST L and Dayton are on I70. Cinci and Akron are within 100 Miles of I70.

Long load times are part of the biz. What stinks is a long UNLOAD followed by a long load and a 250 mile rush to dump the long load. It's all hit and miss. But it seems like reefers are especially prone to long unloadings. But the reefer runs are usually longer.

Hello...I'm starting Roehl training in Marshfield on August 6th. I have read just about every forum on every trucking company, and Roehl is the only company whose positive posts outnumber the negative ones. I researched all the different companies out there, and Roehl seems to be heads above the others.

I'm 46 y/o and have never driven a big rig before. My kids are grown (almost) and my wife is supportive of this decision.

I'll be starting the Honor Program for military vets. I actually left the Air Force in 1991, but I'm still eligible for the Honor Program - I just have to pay for the school. I signed up for the Great Lakes Region driving flat beds. I like the idea of getting paid to do a little exercise, and that might keep me from tipping the bathroom scales!

I'll keep you posted on my progress at school. If you're heading for training with me, drop me a line.

Thanks to all of you for posting all this information. It is very, very helpful.

Road test at Roehl, was a simple test for me. Drove a few miles around Gary, IN,came back to the terminal, and backed in between two trailers.Just as with any other driving test watch your mirrors, be alert at intersections, and when making turns. Oh yeah and use the clutch, they are not fond of you floating gears.

Thanks. I think I am just going to enjoy the rest of the summer and start with someone after Labor Day.

Roehl does seem like a decent outfit.

    Hi Mike,

I did my homework and got a good feeling about very few companies who offer training and employment packages. I agree - Roehl stood above the rest. I'll be joining you there on Aug 6. In much the same boat as you as far as new career, age, family, etc. Look forward to meeting you there.
