I worked as a cashier, carnival worker, traffic control specialist, shift supervisor, delivery driver, tree trimmer, and tax preparer. I have also volunteered as a red cross disaster services volunteer in LA during Katrina/Rita for 6 weeks.

The only job I have always wanted was a long haul trucking job!

I have had a lot of jobs! Worked in a few delis right out of high school. I delivered fish in the Bronx for a few years. Cooked in a few places off and on. I bounced, bartended, and I owned a bar for a few years and then sold it. Went baxk to college and graduated in 2003. Actually a few years before bartending I had gone back to school and was 2 classes from being a registered nurse when I knew it wasn't for me and quit. I hired people for a temp service for a while. I was a manager for a convenience store. The last three years I sold Chrysler and Jeeps and made like 70k a year but HATED being a kiss ### lying scumbag car salesman!
I actually was signed up fir cdl school before I started selling cars but the wife got pregnant so otr was out even though it's what I always wanted to do. Now we have a 1, 3, and 6 year old but she runs a very successful daycare so now is the time. Got my permit last week and head to Roehl in a couple of weeks! I know this is what I was meant to do. I been dreaming of doing this since I was a kid. I just couldn't be away from people. Now I am antisocial so....destiny awaits! Lol

i have always wanted to hit the open road, however being young and dumb didnt take long to get a dui! I have waited many years to once again get this opportunity!! I have done everything from you local grocery store clerk, to building towers, constructing new homes, to sales and telemarketing. I am hoping if all goes well. I start my new endeavor as of aug 1st.
I find myself always looking for any excuse just to drive in my own vehicle, long trips long hours, sign me up!! lol doing your everyday work thing, to me just seems to keep me bottled up. when im on that open road, checking out the scenery during the day, the different sunsets and sunrises or even the clear sky full of stars. I feel like a lion roaming the safari, I feel right at home!!

I am so lucky I never got a dwi. I grew up in a very Irish town. It had so many bars most people would think it was a college town. I bartender for years and even owned a bar. I drove extremely drunk so many times I can't remember. So lucky I was. I was coming back to my bar one night after playing darts at another place and was about a bottle of vodka deep when I got pulled over. I was so bombed that when the cop opened my door to my car I fell out onto the street. The guy knew I owned the bar down the street and he helped me back up into the driver seat and let me drive away! He actually wrote me up a speeding ticket though and I actually was pissed about it. I walk, stagger really, into my bar and this off duty cop asks what was wrong. I say so and so gave me a speeding ticket and he asks where is it. I pull it out of my pocket and he takes it, rips it in two and says don't worry, that he will take care of it! Oh the sense of immortality I had when that happened!
Fortunately I grew up and quit drinking before my luck ran out otherwise truck driving would never happen! Whew!

Bagged groceries and bush hogged acreage in high school.
Worked as a YMCA lifeguard my senior year of high school and while getting my AA degree.
Was a volunteer firefighter for a short time while getting my AA degree.
Worked as a receptionist for campus housing while getting my bachelors.

After graduating, worked for a few weeks as a "Manager Trainee" at a rental car company. Worst job ever.
Did almost a year in commercial real estate brokerage, till I ran out of money.
Worked a short stint as a driver manager, second worst job ever.
Now considering getting my CDL. I really enjoy working alone, and the job prospects for a real estate major in Florida are non-existent, at least the ones that pay a salary.

Graduated HS in '76 & did 20 years US Navy, cook on Submarines. Worked a couple security & restaurant jobs, bus driver for 3 years, CNA for 4 or 5 years, call center operator for 3 years, off & on laborer for temp agency for 4 or 5 years. The Lord opened the door to get into trucking this summer, went to CDL School, got it & start orientation for an OTR company 1st week of Aug, will do 6 weeks w/ a trainer & then get my own route. Wife may come on board as a team driver depending on how well I do. I really hope this is the last time I ever have to change job descriptions. The open road really appeals to me.
