The guy that I am dealing with at this point pays by the ton. It averages out to $1.93 per mile round trip. So it appears that there is money to be made and there is the occasional availibility of backloads (still doing my homework on that part of it) to further sweeten the deal.
Looks like its dirty work, but the compensation is pretty good. I think its a go for us, just buttoning up the loose ends at this point. Hope to be in business and pulling loads in September.

Yeah, sounds decent, esp if they can find you a backhaul. You may want to seriously inquire about a tipper trlr, since they are cheaper than walking floors, and if the dump you're going to has a tipper, then it might work. Of course you will be in line with the other tipper trucks, but it could still work. Just a suggestion, sounds like your ducks are almost all in a row.

Most of the guys here run a walking floor setup because in New York, you can get the overweight permit for the year and gross out at 102k, 107k or 117k depending on your total # of axles. Most pull 30-32 ton per load so I think the tipper or dumps are out of the question. If you know of a setup that will dump that weight, please let me know. Thanks for your help.

Yeah I see your point, I have just seen a lot of tippers at the dump I went to (all runnning for Dart Transport), some even were tri axle setups. But sounds like you've got it figured out, so good luck!

Thanks for the encouragement.

where are you loading?brooklyn?I cant imagine loading and unloading and doing 600 miles a day.GW bridge is a disaster as you know.so is Tappan Zee.I know though guys wait on line to load.then have to worry about being too heavy or too lite.also need overweight permit to haul 32 tons.how much are they paying per ton.also through way tolls are big money.sounds like a tuff gig.plan on doing 4 or 5 loads aweek as an average to be safe.talk to some guys doing it now.hauling garbage is hard on equipment.no one in cares about your truck in landfills. also ii would pull thier trailer until you see how it is first before you invest in one although you shouldnt be responscible for their trailer tires they know your going to blow tnem.

I hear from $36-47 a ton from Brooklyn, to Fingerlakes Region NY depending on broker. Still working on it. If your in the industry, pm me I would like to talk to you since your local. The route upstate is not thruway, 17 to 81 to 90 so the tolls are minimal. Lots of places to load and lots of places to go, its just a matter of getting with the right contact so there is steady work etc. Most guys run at night out of the city to go against traffic. Any more pointers, let me know. Thanks.

Hi How are you, I like to know more about this field, is posibble in with company I can get load from NY to NJ in how to contact them and they any restrisctions in my truck .
-
Keep this in mind too, the rates are going down, trains are hauling alot more, and there is no shortage of truck to haul this stuff for nothing. Also rt.'s 7 &11 add about 45 minutes to the trip over some other ways, and I would dead-head back home before I hauled an $800 load to a landfill -
How has the trash haul gone? Are you making money?
112racing Thanks this.
