Even though the Supreme Court ruled that it is the right of each law abiding citizen to keep and bear firearms in their possession (District of Columbia Vs. Heller) The Federal Gov. still reserves the right to "regulate" when and where you can carry. A great book on this subject is titled "From Luby's to the Legislature" (Privateer Publications San Antonio TX.) Authored by Suzanna Gratia Hupp. Read her story about the day in Kileen TX. when she left her CCW (pistol) in her car parked outside of the Cafeteria where she watched in horror while her parents were murdered execution style by a madman. she left the gun in the car being the good law abiding citizen as to obey the sign stating "no weapons allowed" on the Cafeteria door. Which at the time Texas law states if the proprietor of the business posts such signage all CCW holders must comply. Now with that Knowledge ask yourself this... Do I want to be a Victim or a survivor today? " far better to be judged by 12 of your peers than carried by 6 of your friends":biggrin_25525: Get armed, Get trained and refuse to be a victim.

I'm all for carrying my weapon, except when doing so would get me fired from my job. Working for myself again, don't have to worry about that anymore.

FYI - I was noticing signage in TX and asked the Flying J manager about their firearms policy.

They only "ban" the ILLEGAL carry of firearms in their locations.
That means illegal weapons and carry by non permit holders.

This is random and I own a fairly large amount of firearms. Mostly rifles though. This message was going out to the drivers talking about how many guns they own. Anyways I have no reason to carry a firearm in my semi truck but I was really asking for a friend of mine who been driving OTR for 7 years. Hes always getting confronted by some shady looking individuals and is scared that someday he might get robbed/held up with somebody with a knife or something. Although we hope that never happens! Thanks alot for the much needed info! I appreciate it!

if you look into this part 173,54 is under shipper requirements, it states tha a shipper can not pack and ship a loaded firearm

The driver of the truck aint the shipper.

The cab of the truck doesn't usually hold manifested freight.

Just make sure the firearm isn't packed and you're legal according to the reg.

The only reason I carry a gun is because a cop is too heavy.

I figure it's like my American Express card, I never leave home without it. Besides, it's much better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it!
