I've got lots of questions, so look for me to be blowing up the boards soon! My honey is OTR, gone 2 weeks at a time, but we met at my current job when he worked in yard, day cab, and some OTR (he has since changed jobs). So his career is not a shock to me. I have friends in the industry and have ridden along on occasion so I have a good idea of what the day is like ( I won't say average day because in trucking there is no average day!) my fiancé wants me to go on the road with him so that means I need to get my cdl. That's where all the questions will come from and that's why I joined this site! Lots of plain speaking people on here who do the work every day and I know someone will have the answers I seek.

I just want to say that as he keeps it together on the road, I keep it together at home. I handle all his bills for him, car repairs, household stuff, whatever. Our kids are grown. He's 53, I'm 42. If hes within an hour of the house, and I can get there, then I'm in the car and we're meeting for a meal and a quick pickup of laundry and a loaf of my homemade raisin bread. We both gripe about our jobs but it's easier knowing that he wants to come home to me and I can't wait for his weekend to be home. I don't whine or complain when his weekend gets canceled because of stupid dispatchers or breakdowns. He doesnt need to hear that because he's just as upset.

We've got a good thing going on and I know that when we do get out on the road together it will be even better!

I have to say that being out on the road together has made my hubby and I closer. He's not only my hubby, he's also my best friend :)

I'm glad I'm not the only new one! My husband is in his second day of administrative details with Smartway. I'm also a maker of raisin bread! I'll have to make some extra loaves and stash them in the freezer. I'm embarrassed I didn't think of that before he left!

I have a bread machine that gets a lot of use. Heck, the bread I make him doesn't last til the next day! What company do you and your guy work for? Do you like where you're at? Did he train you or did you get your own experience and then team up? Sorry for all the ??? but there's so much I don't know....

My bread machine broke, unfortunately. I did use it every day, sometimes twice a day. The pan broke badly and I can't find a replacement anywhere. So, I've been doing it by hand until we have some money to buy a new one.

My husband left Sunday night, so it's all new for me too. He's down at Smartway in Fresno. So far so good I guess.

Man did you nail it girl. Lol I just joined this site ten minutes ago and your post brought me to tears. Been trucking a long time and the only one that ever stayed the course with me was my wife. God bless her and yourself. Oh btw she's a baker too LOL.

Go for it. You will never look back
