I'm thinking of starting a business that rewards truck drivers for placing a 2 foot x 3 foot decal on the back of their truck. The decal would promote a common retail item like a drink or snack item. Once a month I will "catch" a driver driving a truck with the decal and reward the driver with $5,000 cash. Is this a program that truckers would be interested in? (I'm not trying to sell anything here, just seeing if truckers would participate in this.) Thanks.

I wouldn't even if it paid me a monthly fee. In case you wonder why, I think it would subtract from the class of a clean well maintained truck to turn it into a billboard.
You might approach the mega-companies. They seem really focused on making most of their money from activities other than hauling freight.
I don't know if there are any regulations with regard to what you can't put on your truck. There are plenty with regard to what you must put on your truck. You might want to check on this.
Another thing to consider. Since people's favorite pass-time is making a cell phone call to complain about the driving habits of others, how many advertiser's want their product advertised on a moving target.Everett, Winchester Magnum and Cowmobile Thank this. -
Thanks - Any suggestions on which mega-company might be interested?

I don't know if any would. I also don't know that all owner/operators feel the same as me.
I'm not trying to discourage you, just offering my honest thoughts and opinions on your idea.
If it works for you, I'll be wishing I had thought of it and pursued it. I do see advertising all over city busses these days.
Check out this thread for company names and Google the names to get websites with contact information:

This is not an exaustive list but it will keep you busy and give you a feel for the possibility of making it work.
Maybe some others will weigh in on your idea. Good luck. -
That's $60,000 per year. What product are you marketing?
To answer your question, no I would not do it. First I dont like trashy logo on my trailer, and even if I did, Id expect to be paid for it, as opposed to random chance of maybe getting paid.
To pull those off and sell this idea to truckers, youd need a website showing the monthly winner with his contact info. Otherwise truckers would asume you are not paying out and are getting free advertising.BigJohn54 and the gambler Thank this. -
You said pretty much everything I was going to.
The only other thing I can think of is that there is a reason the back of most trucks are blank... they are hardly ever seen.
the gambler Thanks this. -
What if I paid directly per month for a 12 month deal? Realistically, how much would I have to pay per month for you to put a 2 foot x 3 foot decal on the back of your truck? Assume it's a brand name product that you and everyone already knows, like Coke or Pepsi or Fritos, etc. I would require the driver to text or email me a picture of the decal every month. I would probably pay quarterly.

there are other companies that do this, some pay a decent amount of money. You might want to check around.....

I've looked for companies that do this without success. Do you have any specific names or websites? Appreciate it.
