Well log it or not, if the truck you drive breaks down, why is the driver not beeing paid while it's down?
same thing with detention time from shippers, receivers or customs.
It's not his truck, when the truck is down or any other reasons, you have an employee who is captive not working, remember OTR drivers are paid BY THE MILE.
Cheap labor that's what it's called.

Oh man LOL, yep Detroit can be bad but good for a laugh though. I use to long haul and would get paid to do my own lumping....in US bucks when the Canuck was worth 53 cents. Well, in Detroit I decided I needed food money and tried to lump my whole load of meat. LMAO the big "ex football player lumper" just stood there for about 5 minutes, and then helped me for free...LMAO

Hell, if he's flippin' burgers he has to log that as On Duty time. Doesn't matter if it's a carrier or not.

Tell you what, when working in the oil patch and you're on a lease in the bush soemwhere and waiting your turn to load, you get paid for waiting and log it as waiting but it isn't considered working time as far as your driving hours etc. You have to read the WHOLE book sometimes to get it right.
