Thanks Neal, I've done some 6% grade already but not with bumper to bumper traffic though lol. Its nerve racking at first but after you experience it, your fine atleast I was. Truck stop experience ive had a few, thats were most of the accidents occur at. So im doin as much driving in truck stops as possible so when I go solo, I won't freak out lol.

Well it's been atleast 2 weeks since my last update. I'm 38hrs away from finishing out with my mentor. They gave me a new mentor a week ago cause my first mentor was put on safety hold for a ticket he recieved over a year ago. He didn't tell his DM about it cause it was only a stupid parking ticket, oh well. Got my new Mentor a week ago and were runnin pretty well. I try to run 8 to 11 hrs a day to speed up this process so I can solo out. I'm just blessed that im able to drive 11 hrs. straight with no stops. We'll see how long i'll continue to keep that up lol. Anyways, I'm out here in Troutdale, OR relaxin at the TA, I'll keep everyone posted who is still interested in hearing my training experience with Swift & let you know when I get my full 240hrs. thats required to solo out. Keep you guys & gals posted,,,,, God Bless!!

    1) Take care of the equipment.
    2) Deliver on time.
    3) Stay at 62mph or below.
    4) Log it as it happens.
    5) Present yourself to shippers/receivers in a professional manner.
    6) Get rest at every opportunity.
    7) If your 10 hr break is over and you've got miles to run...RUN!
    8) Do not depend on Mac 23 for directions. Mac 23 directions are helpful, but are not dependable. Use the atlas, google (if you have a laptop) and CALL the shipper/receiver for directions.
    9) Try to shut down at a time when there are plenty of parking spots at truckstops. No sense risking damage to Swift's or anyone else's equipment trying to squeeze into the last available spot. If you're not comfortable backing into a spot...move along!
    10) If you get into a bind because you made a wrong turn somewhere, find a safe spot to stop and regroup. Don't move until you have a GOOD plan for getting back on track.
    ...more later. Oldnew...:biggrin_25514:
