I guess my main concern is just how hard was the hard-braking event you keep referring to?
I know that there have been times I've had to get on the brakes quite firmly when stopping for a light or having a car pull out unexpectedly, and I've never had a HBE while pulling a trailer. I did bobtailing once...had to lock 'em down in a work zone when a 4-wheeler nosed out of a driveway a little too far near Atlanta.
I'm thinking if junior had a HBE, it must have been a doozy. And just because your son has to face some adversity in life (FAIR OR NOT), not all companies are "out to get" drivers. That's mantra wore out its welcome many, many moons ago. That's all I'm saying. I still wish him well in his search.
Werner worst company ever

You can get a hard brake in the parkng lot ideling. Or coasting if you hit the brake hard enough. You call training dept. And they scold you and ask why and it is done. If you become baligerant or give them a reason to they can and will fire you for this.
I am assuming that JR. Has had several of them and most likely log violations or something else that has contributed to his demise with werner.
I have been there several years I do know werner actuallyhas the potential to be a great company however, the fools running the place chose not to allow this to become a reality.
I recently left them on good terms and the biggest complaint I had was after my truck paid off miles droped. They do like their dispatch games. And the dispatchers enjoy playing them smell nights. But you can get arond those with some calming down and thinking things threw and not allowing your anger to get the best of you. Most of them are due to a over worked college kid working the bleeds at night.
I goodly students the same things but would also go in and actually stand up for them also. If his trainer didn't do his observation time then he needed to call the earth dept. That would have put it on his trainer not him.
also the dollar general account dose make a good paycheck. I personally never thought I needed the abuse but knew several people that did drive on it and had their complaints but made good money on it.
Werner or any training compatible you find out there are not responsabel for YOUR CAREER, YOU ARE!
You can complain about any company if you look hard enough.
Right now with freight being what it is jobs everywhere are not easy to get or at plentiful like 10yrsto ago. So you have to give some to get some. Not saying bend your knees and wipe your chin. But be more flexiabel then most students tend to be when they "know it all"
the companies and the schools are the blame here and they run the schools like puppy mills how many can we get out so we can supply the demand and still make money. If they can belive me they will.
Sorry this was typed on my phone so forgive the corrections that are so badly needed im sure. -
I was with werner for about 2 years if your heard braking all the time then you should not drive a semi truck too much of a safty issue. I never got one with them
the reason why I left was I got hosed on my benefits and didnt get miles for team -
I have been driving for 5 years, first for FFE and then for Heartland, until the recession took out all the miles from the Western Regional Fleet. My parents were ill with cancer, and had to take time out to assist them while my father died.
Of course, Heartland does not usually rehire, they have enough good drivers to pick and chose. So, I get a call from Werner, and gave them the benefit of the doubt. That was a giant mistake.
Since I was at the Phoenix terminal, they had no truck when orientation was done. I was promised by the terminal manager Jim Davis that if I took a day cab tractor back to Omaha for sale, I would get a tractor in Omaha. Try driving a day cab first to Sacramento Target DC and trade out for another day cab and then on to Omaha. After arriving at Omaha, I spent 3 days waiting for a tractor assignment, and was sent to a Mississippi Dollar General DC for an abandoned tractor. I get into a rental car with another driver, and when we get to the DC, where a Werner shop is also located, both vehicles were utterly trashed. The other man and I spent several hours cleaning the tractors, and then found out if the tractors have no antennas, Werner does not replace. I replaced at my expense for the CB. Then, it got worse.
After being informed that I would be Western Region, I ended up for almost 3 weeks in the northeast, Jersey, NY, PA, MA. Then it got worse.
I finally got sent back to Phoenix for hometime. First trip out was to the Home Depot International Corsicana TX for an 11 PM delivery Sunday. When I got there Sunday night, the place was closed. The gate guard did let me and another Werner driver leave our trailers, but since no one was there to release any MT trailers, we had to go BT out. Then it got worse.
The next day, I am jumped by the Drvr Mgr on why I have no trailer and then told to go to Dallas yard to take a trailer to Arlington. When I get to Dallas, the trailer is nowhere to be found. After spending almost 45 minutes, I finally found someone in the Gra Gar shop who could look up the trailer number, and it had gone out 6 hours earlier. Then it got worse.
The times I was sent to places for trailers that were not there, like Coors, Golden CO, etc, the trailers in poor condition, and a second tractor pickup in Tulsa OK when my tractor was surveyed out of the fleet only made matters worse. The Tulsa recovery tractor was in such poor shape that between myself and the Werner tractor trailer inspection bay person at Phoenix, it had 28 DOT write up conditions.
Werner is the worst, and their CSA scores show it. If you really want to get hurt, or hurt your worst enemy, go Werner or recommend it to an enemy, and watch them suffer.
