Effective July 1st 2011 Florida DOT merges with Florida Highway Patrol.
Its official, the Florida DOT has merged with FHP and are now State Troopers. There will be no change with what the DOT do except that they are now classed as Troopers and the uniforms and cars will have the FHP emblems and badges. Eventually the cars will all look the same as FHP so eventually you will no longer be able to tell the difference. FHP now has a DOT Unit flying under the FHP banner, there is no separation anymore.
