yea, they are barley turning a profit. I would never invest in this company as a stock holder.

At least they are trying to hedge their fuel costs.

Your new and cheap- when they get more newbies in behind you they will drop your miles so the new hires can post how great it is for a while :biggrin_25525:

They don't want you near a terminal because drivers seem to clean out their trucks and go home.

When I was driving 48 it was common for carriers to keep you on the opposite coast from where you lived. And as far as where you need to go? They need frt moved they could care less where you need to go. Your needs will be met when they have met their needs.

Well nothing comes thur till Monday, 760 miles to del wed night, which they won't let me drop Preplan says 11am tho..currently wait to get called for new job.I'm tired of eating air. This company is the epitome of a pyramid scheme. Notice in the press release all of the excuses for not making money, why they "think" they will make money...really really really soon. They can't man their trucks because their drivers figure out pretty quick that they go after short miles and the company end up being the only party making any money, although they can't turn a profit. Follow the money! They're making money, it's just being squandered.

They claim that training costs have gone up by 20%, hahahahaha. Did they mention to the press that they were having to bribe drivers to come to work for them? At one point (not long ago) they were giving $1200 sign on bonus, a laptop and a GPS. But even those newb suckers figured out that a laptop, GPS and $1200 (divided by 4) doesn't mean much if you're only getting 250 miles a day, at best (half of which are local deliveries and paid by the mile).

Admittedly, I've been with them for a year and a half....I put up with everything...the countless $200 weeks, countless 30 mile local deliveries in the middle of the night, oftentimes not knowing where my next meal was coming from or if I'd even have the cash to scale the next load. I only stuck with it to take care of my obligation to C1. There were some good weeks, also. But...it means nothing to have a $900 week if the next three weeks are $200-$300 each.

I've had two solid months out of the entire year and a half, everything else was a waste, considering the birthdays, anniversaries, funerals...just relationships, in general....that I've had to sacrifice for less than what a McDonald's order taker makes. And the McDonald's order taker is home every night and didn't have to pay to learn how to use the register.

I just got home yesterday and when I get to the terminal to go home my FM sends me a 29 mile load. I tell him, "hey man, I'm out of hours, I delivered to the final 3 hours ago and have been here just waiting on my ride to go home." I immediately get a call, he's upset that I ran out of hours and says to me "we don't go home on Friday mornings, I wish I could go home on Friday mornings, blah blah blah." I had waited to be loaded for 6 hours the night before, once loaded I had 6 hours to make it to the final which was approx 350 miles. He thought that I should have taken a 10 hr break so that I could get to the terminal the next morning to do local loads. Not going to happen! If I have 6 hours to drive and that's adequate time to get to final on a home time weekend, you can bet your ##### I'm driving straight there. #### the local loads, I was hired as OTR!

What the ignorant FMs' fail to realize is that while they control the miles...I CONTROL THE LOGBOOK. You want a local driver? Call Averitt and pay what it's worth.

your not in fleet 37 are you? that sounds like something my fleet manager would say to me.
"Oh yea, you wish you could go home on friday mornings, Well I wish I could go home every weekend. You go home for the weekend while i get stuck at a shipper all weekend." That would have been my response to him.

Haha, I was just tired so I just stuck to my original response of being out of hours...just hoping that he would tell me to violate. And I've learned in the time that I've been there to record every call because these people are the biggest liars/thieves I've ever encountered in any industry.

Oh, and the real beauty with USA is that if they give you a load that you truly don't want to do...call breakdown. Literally, if you look you can always find something wrong with their equipment. I may still have to do the load...but I take the profitability out of it.

yea, i was on home time once with an mt trailer. and i was ready to go by 10 PM sunday. and i sent in my mac 15, and waited a few hours for a load. 8 hours later i had stayed up most of the night waiting for a load. then I got a load at 8 AM. But i had been up all night, and could not drive.

So my FM got mad, and sent me another load to pick up like 8 hours later. And that load was a better load anyway. I was still a greenhorn then, and did not know about night dispatch, and that your not gonna get a load on a sunday night.

My FM was on vacation last week, and the guy that covered for him was SUCH an better manager. he actually let me know what his plans were ahead of time. he gave me my next load BEFORE I got the the final of my current load.
    I could actually plan ahead.
