Some drivers use the "BRANDED" TruckStop WiFi, which isn't really secure nor cheap or fast. Most (I believe) are using Sprint, Cingular or Verizon Broadband cards.
I use Sprint, just got the BB card in February, but had used a Sprint phone as a tethered modem for about 5 years.

Use a "Power Inverter". Converts 12DC to 115AC.
They come in sizes rated from 250 Watt to 5000 Watt or more.
The small ones plug into a cigarette lighter (although I don't reccomend this) and larger ones connect direct to the batteries.

A couple of different ways for me.

#1: Local Hotels near truckstops (free)
#2: Unsecure networks from homes and businesses (free)
#3: Use my Roadking points at the T/A
#4: Paid $21.99 for 1 month with Siricom for use at Pilots and Petro's
    #5: $4.25 from the Flying J

Now that I am going to own my own truck, I am probably going to get one of those wireless cards for $59.95 a month. I won't be spending much time in truckstops anymore, so access anywhere will be worth it.
