This just proves that some instructors are lazy and have no business on what they are doing. What this idiot should have done is teach all of the students to research the FMCSA website and compare the ratings in the SMS program. Let them pick a company on a little truthful information instead of talk of the mouth. The data is there for everybody and you get an idea on how they are performing. It's not perfect but it's much better than drawing a line through a company and depending on one persons advice.
I'm beginning to believe that these schools teach that a student has no other choice but to go to the mega companies. I don't think that they tell the student he or she might want to go out and see for themselves at the terminals or go door to door for a job. They just might have an alterative motive and can advertise they have a certain percentage rate for employment. It sure looks that way to me anyway. So they have two objectives,1 to get the student a CDL, and 2 to get the student a job. Please tell me it's not true.
Is CR England REALLY that bad?

Then there comes the next problem. Many students don't try on their own like you said, but I don't think the schools purposely prevent this. Most get their pre-hire and are happy as can be and don't bother continuing to research and looking, if they ever did in the first place.
I did everything I could not to work at a mega carrier and my school definitely helped me, but I had to seek the help myself from the job placement lady. Most people never actually talked to her as she sent them pre-hires and they were content. She gave me a list of over 200 local, regional and OTR carriers that were all under 200 or so trucks that would take a new driver. Obviously, I was on my own getting these jobs which I had no problem with, but most are lazy and wouldn't go through the extra work. In the end, I found my company on my own but they definitely did help me in my search and I'm thankful for that.
There are many options out there for a new driver. You just have to use every resource available to you to find them.GasHauler, BigJohn54 and AfterShock Thank this. -
Like I said I'm sure the schools are not going to teach other ways of employment. It's great they helped you and all of the schools should. Of course the student is not going to go after a good job if all he is told he has work at this job by the pre-hire letter bull. I not only blame just the schools, it rests on the student as well. But if he's not gotten the tools to look the blame goes more to the school.

Same ole, same ole. The same things were said about JB, Schneider, Swift, and any other companies that ran a CDL mill.
Ay company is what you make of it. The worst companies I drove for I still made money, it just depended on how much BS I was willing to take for the money I was making. -
I drove for CRE in the early 90's for about 3 years, as they have never been a top paying company, but they treated there driver decent, at least they did me, back then, In 07' when i came back to OTR, boy what a switch, they scam you into that lease and it's down hill from there, they charge you 14 cpm to be a lease op, then pay you 80cpm empty and 90cpm loaded, but if you do the math, after the 14cpm screw the driver charge, it's only 66cpm empty and 76cpm loaded, can you say RIP OFF!!!

LOL CR ENgland is great ..... back when I used to drive.... I would make a point to get out of my truck at a stop and piss on one of Cr England's tires.... what was great is when I topped it off with a fart.......
In all seriousness CR England is on my top 5 list of stay away companies........ followed closely by SWIFT...Gold_Miner Thanks this. -
Who ever said people listen and learn? You are one of the rare birds who has. Compare England's advertising to smoking ads - they're like snake oil.
At orientation, when they begin pushing you into o/o you have no time to go ask a lawyer if you had the 500 bucks for the lawyer. Those sheets don't
leave the room, forget the good advice of going over your contract you see here.. If you don't sign you're gone. With no way back. Stuck. Some are smart and get out in the first 90 days, others have no other road...so they lose what they had when they knocked on the door of the 'Trucker of Evil." -
