when you [FONT=&quot]compare satellite tv [/FONT] to dish.. its either convenient or saves u money.. but the most important thing is that which one you like MORE.. great entertainment in the outdoors is priceless..

all you do is add a box to your service and you will get all the shows you get at home BUT the local channels will only pu for up to about 250 miles from your home (focus bean) i can't pu nashville pass memphis.

don't get one from the truck stop (to much money) just call dish and get a box from them

we have a two tv dvr box and it's $12.95 extra per month (because it's a dvr) but we can record two shows at the sametime when parked.

you will also need a dish and a way to mount it...
most companies will let you mount a vuqube (no drill around $100) but you will need to check with them.

the vuqube v10 (around $600) is the cheapest but it takes longer to setup the v20 (around $800) is faster and the v30 (around $1300) is the best, all of them will work for dish sat 110, 119, (hd)129 but you will have some lag time when changing sat's and you will need to change the switch setting on your box (dish will tell you how) so the box can tell the vuqube to change sat's

we have dish 500 in the truck (non hd) and hd at home.
you can also use a home dish on the truck (thats what we have right now).

we upgraded the house to all hd 3 years ago and after they installed everything they left the dvr box and one of the roof dishes (2 head) so we had everything all i had to do was find a way to mount it on the company truck, this is what i came up with for a NO DRIL install, takes about 5 min to set up and lock in on the sat's and 2 min to take down.

drilled out the welds and installed blots so the arm could fold and padding is for when it's folded and one bungie to hold the arm when folded.

after install and ready to use

the mast was $80 the reast of the hardware for the install was $12
the cable runs down the back of the cab then under and in the same hold in the floor that the invertor wires use, so this is a NO drill install

now that we have our own truck sometime this summer i will be getting a vuqube v30 so we can use it going down the road but we are a team

I had a stint installing satellites and went to school for it. You think trucking is bad. The satellite industry is known for ripping the installers off big time. One little mistake like not strapping a cable that has nothing to do with performance and you aren't getting paid for that install. Like the DOT, if you look hard enough, you can find something.

When you order satellite you have the option of what city you want local channels from. It don't cost extra for which one you pick. This is controlled by which frequencies your unit is programmed to receive. National channels just refers to the major cities like LA, NYC, Atlanta, Chicago.... which run off the DirectTV 101W satellite. Dish Network is at 119W

Remote area's might require a dual LNB dish or a second dish all together. You can take a dish and lock in on any satellite on the belt like weather or military. You just don't have the receiver to decode the signal.

When you travel across the US, the elevation of the satellite changes, but you can still tune in the local channels. Both companies use 3 satellites with regular programming on one and local channels on another. With HDTV they are moving to 5 satellites. They need multiple satellites to handle the frequency load and growing technology.

That's the problem with Winegard and Vuqube is they track the 101W or 119W satellite and don't have multiple satellite capabilities. You need to have a house dish with dual LNB's to receive the local channels of choice when on the road. The curved dish can receive multiple signals and bounces it to the LNB's.

not true vuqube v20 and v30 can pick up all three dish satellite's 110,119, and HD 120 the dish BOX has a switch inside that will tell the vuqube when to change satellite's, i was told this by dish and vuqube. it just has a lag time of about 1 min when it changes sat's

You aren't looking for special service what you need is equipment and they are mounted on top of the vehicle (Normal use is in RVs) and have a GPS and motor to track the satellite in space. Quick google search was showing between $1100-1400

I have no idea how well they work. If the truck isn't yours it might be very hard to get promission to mount one as it will create some drag and you know companies and their gas milage. Good luck if you go that way.

the vuqube V30 will work..... mounts to the back of the cab..... only set's about 3" above the cab

I've seen them as low as $800.... but hard to fine at that price..... most of the time around $1,000

the NO DRIL mount is around $100..... most companies will be OK with it because it's a no drill mount BUT check first

The VuQube V30 was discontinued some while ago. However, you can sometimes still find a refurbished or used one online at Ebay or others.
