I have one I bought a few years back, will have to see if it will work on these newer trucks. Is the mpg accurate? Thanks for your imput

A CAT ID only shows information that is already in an ECM. So it is no more or less accurate than your ECM.

You can make corrections to adjust the mpg and get it close, so in a word, no. Ecm's aren't to be trusted either. The only way to really know mpg in any vehicle is to use a calculater and the tripodometer from what I've seen.

where could I buy the cat id the old one or the new one mine went out ?

i priced one some years back and it was over $500. it was the older style for a 2000 year truck.
