Semi hauling Yoplait crashes off I-196

Holy Cow! Lucky to be alive after that one. Sad to see anyone lose their job, but he/she is now looking for work...

 

That'll be one Prime driver who will not get the bonus for completing a lease.

Glad they're OK, though...could have been far, far worse.

 

That's the 2nd prime truck that I've seen this year drive off an overpass. What are these driver thinking?

 

That should be "...glad 'he's' okay." That's a company driver truck - one driver. No lease.

The one in KC was being driven by an instructor - fella had nearly 20 years of driving behind him, most of it with Prime. I understand his corpse was so badly burned they couldn't do an autopsy. Looks like we'll never know what "[that] driver thinking."

His student was critically injured, and IIRC, lost both of his legs.

Lots of compassion there drvrtech77... as a veteran driver, I guess you could put yourself into the seat of the driver in that one - hope nothing like that ever happens to YOU.

 

Well ironpony, I'm just stating that it's odd that two trucks from same company within a few months apart go off an overpass the same way. It's ironic. I don't like to see anything bad happen to anyone out here because everyone has family they want to return to.

 

Hope that Prime driver recovers soon. Glad no bystanders were hurt.

 

KSP suspected that the one in KC had a medical problem... heart attack or something like that. I guess we could hold that against him.

Have you ever run I196 in Grand Rapids? That could very well have been one of our newbs taking those curves too fast... or perhaps one of the idiot 4-wheelers cut him off?

As in many other posts folks have suggested that perhaps it would be best to wait until all the facts are in before assigning blame. It is of course, interesting that the name on the side of the trailer always attracts these sort of comments, isn't it?

 

Update...

It was one of our inexperienced newbs evidently. He had the jakes on in heavy rain, jacknifed and went off of the bridge abutment.

 

This is not to rub it in anyones face. I am saying this for the noobs(like myself) that may be reading this. NEVER USE YOUR JAKES IN BAD WEATHER!!!! You can hit a patch of standing water, oil, sand, or black ice and lose traction. Next thing you know you are in an ambulance if you're lucky, a hearse if you're not...
