I don't that number is important. Most drivers have zero idea of how to run a business. So imagine the percentage is low. Success ain't suppose to be easy.
My friend drove for JCT for about 2 months this past year. Lost if his ###. But every time i talked to him, hes driving just fast and as hard as possible. Not holding nothing, other than his .07cpm in escrow. Wasn't holding anyhting back anything for taxes.
But then I hear others doing great. Some luck, and but mostly having a business sense.Jarhed1964, Alanp613, grannylane and 1 other person Thank this. -
you know, its been a while since a "newbie posted they're orientation experience here,,how about running a post from day one on thru your first month here so people can see what if any changes there are and how somone "new" can make it just fine here.Alanp613 Thanks this.

the national average for start up business's in the us that fail in the first year is over 85%,,as far as jct goes i don have exact figures but i would imagine that it is pretty close to the natl avg,,,that being said,,if you can pick up a phone and plan your route/early arrival time, and can communicate to dispatch what you have in mind,,(and be reasonable about it) and can keep your chicken hauler below 70mph,,you will make money here,,most of the horror stories you hear are from guys that go negative one or two weeks in a row by lack of planning/communication and then expect to get a paycheck before paying back the negative,,,however.....if you think you are going to be short on miles or miss the turn in window,,,CALL YOUR DM,and have him work with you to correct this,,he has several options at his disposal to help you out,,but it is your business...if you dont ask,,,to bad,,they aint gonna hold your hand,,but they will go out of there way to help if you ASK!!!!!!!Alanp613 Thanks this.

i have a couple of questions...did he net 3000.00? Or did his truck only generate 3k in revenue? Also,on the truck choice was that the only one available for lease at the time of signing,(if so anything over 500k miles automatically qualifies you for much newer trucks as the y come available (which is pretty often weekly)did the truck not run? If he had breakdown issues did he ask for a loaner?,did he work with leasing dept to get a payment deferral? Did he work with his dm to get payroll turn swaps for his loads? Did he check the air pressure in his tires to get much better fuel mileage,,where did he buy the fuel, when did he buy the fuel in relation to his preplans? When he realized he was going to have a tight time of it for a few weeks did he slow the truck down to 58 mph to get 7-8 mpg? Does he use proggressive shifting?,,what did he do with the first 4 truck payment that you dont have the first month? Did he ever call marty, or sarah or laurie ? Hmmmmm? U c there are many variables that can drastically affect how your business manages cash flow,,if he netted 3k in 2 months he was turning down loads or not picking up the phone and asking for some.
The truth is that jct has more freight than trailers and three time as many trailers as trucks,,they cannot afford for your truck to sit any more than u can,,also,,your dm has a hell of a price to pay if your truck aint producing because he is slacking ,,,,just my .02 cents worth,,,,but hey what do i know? I am just one of the ones that got lucky and made it right? Had nothing to do with my vision of running a business,my hard work,my proactive aproach,my will my determination,huh?Jarhed1964, Stoney, Alanp613 and 3 others Thank this. -
sorry about the "caps" everyone,,,,also i am assuming that knowing he was broke and keeping a very close tab on his upcoming pay he knew he was going to be broke right?,so tell me......did he go home in those two months,,at all? if he knew what was coming,,( and most of us can tell you our upcoming pay to within a few dollars) and went home and stopped that truck,,then he set himself up to fail,,you must look at hometime as you would a vacation,,,you gotta have the money in the bank b4 you head of to disneyland so what would make anyone think hometime is any different?

sorry for the rants people, but i just want to make sure that new veiwer have a chance to see that most of the chance of success lies within their choices,, not jct's,
my truck is in the shop (done now) i am in a loaner with 680k on it, no bunk ac and it smells like butt in here,,it has taken me three days to get it up to 5.5mpg, and the seats hurt my tender booty,,however,,its free,,,,yep thats right loaners are free,,and i get to generate revenue while my pristine beautiful smiling prostar is getting some tlc,,what im trying to say is that i will take any,,any truck,, jct has and turn a profit,,period,,you just have to be willing to put the effort in.Stoney, Alanp613 and Jarhed1964 Thank this. -
Nice!. So if you drive a loaner, they don't deduct the payment from your settlement?grannylane Thanks this.

you still make your own truck payment but they dont charge you any fee/payment for the loaner.
