I dropped the truck off at the terminal. They said I abandoned it. I asked, ok then show me proof of where you sent a driver to retrieve the truck, case settled.

I had to contact the VP of HR to solve the mess. I am grateful I have my job back, but not grateful for having to wait 3-4 weeks to solve this BS.

As for the FMLA, someone wrote you have to be employed over a year for the provisions to be in effect, and that is true. But I also submitted a LOA for *family emergency. So in effect for the next time this happens, I have to babysit my DM and make sure he gets the LOA and ask him 10 times if it has been approved, hell I should even get it notarized.

all I can say, is fight the abandonment statements, but you were lucky. When I got done with my trainer, picked up my truck, it had been wrecked. The whole left side of fender as hanging. Told them I wasn't leaving with it looking like that.Their answer was tow plates, and eight screws. I test drove told them something was wrong with the steering. OH, but a woman knows nothing! Five months later, I refuse to drive the truck, unless they put their family in it and pick up my load. If there was no problem then I'd drive it. Well I spent two weeks at the yard because my tyrod was severely bent and ready to go. Jeez, I guess he didn't trust the truck with him and his family but I could haul me and my little girls around in it. I know they are hard to get in to But I went to JB Hunt after that. I was treated fairly. Do Not go to Specialized Express in Columbus, OH.

midnight trucker, FYI I am financing my own education myself, so I dont know if your statement applies to my situation. I am not aware that Swift is getting 10k per head. I think what you are talking about is a return to work program or UE grants putting people back to work

You actually went back to Swift, after all of the horrible things they did to you? I admire your humility. Without offering an opinion on the company, I can honestly say that if I felt the way you do (or did), I would play the harmonica on a street corner for pennies before I would go back there.

Just wait'll they offer you the lease-op plan. You get your own shiny new truck, and you make three or four times as much money per mile. You'll feel guilty for stealing from them. :biggrin_2559:

Actually Swift has a "family plan" for drivers. 12 days out, up to 12 days home. But you have to clean out your truck. I refuse to use it, my truck isn't great, but its not junk either! Some terminals make you sign up for the family plan when you finish orientation. I am on it, but haven't gone home more than two days in a row.

Now all we need is to get the DOT to shove their HOS rules up their proverbial ##### so that somebody can actually drive the 12 days.

My gawd, and I still awake? Now that I'm not driving and don't have the DOT telling me when I'm tired and need to sleep, I just stay awake all night.

This is almost as bad as getting out of prison and having to learn to close your own doors.

    scottied67 Thanks this.
