I was gonna say sometimes I think I would be better off having a felony on my record than two 25 yr old DUI's,but I changed my mind...If you want to drive,if you WANT to work, you WILL find a way.

    123456 and jtx87 Thank this.

Sorry, should have worded my question better. I already found out about how my record will look after. The charge will be dismissed but the arrest will still be there, have to wait 5 years and I can file for order of Non-Disclosure. That's all I can find out. Just trying to see how it would affect me in the Truck Driving industry. I would trust the advice from a veteran truck driver over any lawyer or recruiter any day.

How old the felony is and what it was for will be the big factors that will affect your ability to get hired. How old is your experience. You say you are looking to get into trucking but show five years experience.

    Hey big john 54,
Thanks for the come back, okay I do have five years experience, and the felony is nine years old, drug related, but not trucking related the charges where pending during my last two years of driving but I doubt if I will be able to drive for a company,if not I really been thinking about o/o with my own authority pulling flatbed.so any info will be helpful

You are very welcome. How old is your experience? When was the conviction? When did you finish serving the sentence? Time is the only thing that will make it better and even that is not a cure all.

You are most likely correct about getting hired by a company since drug related offenses present a big liability for them.

It won't be any easier to lease a truck to a company, as you would have to go through the same qualification process.

This only leaves getting your own authority. The first step would be to call an insurance agent and see if you can even get insurance. The next step would be to come up with $15,000 - $25,000 startup capital if you hope to be successful. You might start with less but one unexpected expense or simple mistake and you lose it all.

Plan on $7,000 - $8,000 just for down payments on truck, trailer and insurance. Then add another $2,000 - $4,000 for license, permits and authority. And finally add another $8,000 - $12,000 operating capital for fuel, expenses and repairs while you are waiting to collect the revenue from your loads.

    Hey....once again.....(big john 54)
Thank you for the information,I pretty much figure that's the way I would have to go is o/o my question to you,if you don't mine,is it a good time to become a o/o right now, because I don't want to get out and don't make it and I would like to pull flatbed, because it used to pay well, but I don't know about now,so can you help point me in the right direction.I really would appreciate it,oh and I think I got the expense covered.(thank you, again)
