Come drive down I-95 in Florida or I-4 between Orlando and Daytona Beach and tell me you don't see many trucks traveling that speed.

I totally agree with you. I may be new but I did drive OTR 20+ years ago you remember Pre CDL days. I just get annoyed by the I've driven for 10 years and I'm a PROFESSIONAL and I was always one from day one. People want to blame everything on the newbies or talk bad about them. The first time I got into a truck 20+ years ago I went to my local DMV got a Chauffeurs license with no test and hopped into a truck with a seasoned driver and off we went, he taught me how to shift, turn and back, then I got behind the whell and drove... it's not brain surgery as it's trying to be turned into today with all the regulations. It takes practice and more practice, theres not a driver alive that has seen eveything a truck, road or other motorist can throw at them, it's 99% how a person handles it, just like other things in life. The messed up part is the Trucking companies have found another income stream by offering training and their making money from it. Just heard today that the Big Orange is now charging Almost $6,000.00 for their training at Charlotte, NC and you get reimbursed $3,500 over 18 months, no more free rides. For an industry that pays as low as it does for the amount of hours worked that's a high price to pay for training.

 

Oh yeah and the $6,000.00 is if you complete the 18 months and pay $3,500.00. Guess what happens if you don't complete the 18 months they will add 30% to the bill for collections. $7,800.00 That's an Associate Degree at the local college or even close to Bachelor Degree

 

You misunderstood me,What I ment to say was Knight hires their dispatcher straight out of school...I wasn't knocking new drivers.As you said everyone has to start somewhere...I did'nt start knowing everything and I still don't. Gotta get that road time....keep em rollin....

I worked for knight for a year Never had problems with my payroll after they went to the scanning but I did have trouble finding those drop boxes they sat up in certain truck stops and in all the terminals. When the scanning started, this was in 2004, I got paid the next day on every load. MT trls were hard to find.

I left because my DM left the Indy terminal and the western terminals drop much of the freight there and my new one would only offer me loads going to NJ, Philly, and northeast the west coast drivers dropped in Indy after running most of the miles out. Did that for a month and quit I just will not run up there exclusivley for anyone. I know thats bad of me but I go I leave I don't go back for awhile has been how I have allways dealt with East Coast.
