I for one feel the driver shortage may be somewhat real but imo it's more of a pay shortage, put some real numbers to the position and sit back and watch the ppl come back to this profession, cause all we have now is a JOB/ just over broke.

Absolutely correct driver! Shall I list the premium carriers that have a waiting list of experienced drivers ? And why are these drivers waiting? Because it's a good job with good pay.

Any carrier CAN have a waiting list....if they want to......

There is no shortage of drivers, there is a shortage of companies that will pay and treat their drivers well.

If there were a shortage of drivers there would be a shortage on the capacity side, freight would be sitting and rates would go up...if there is still $1 per mile freight there is no driver shortage.

If there is such a shortage then why are most companies saying you will get 2000 to 2500 miles a week?

There is no shortage of drivers. If there was they would be paying .50 per mile and all detention time. There is a shortage of decent co's to work for!:yes2557:

This is just the carpet baggers lobbying to give our jobs away to someone who is willing to drive for 2 tacos a day..

at those miles and todays rates, almost any driver with less than three years experience will starve to death.
