Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. Been driving for about 30 years now. Started driving flatbeds when I paid $4.00 more and got a chauffers license back in 1978. Drove for 2 years and then went to Alaska and worked on crab boats for about 5 years. Had enough of that and came back down to the "lower 48" and started driving again. Had I known they would one day make a TV show about it, I might of stayed and been a star. OH WELL, didn't miss it at all. Have mostly done flatbed. Drove a food grade tanker for 2 years. That was the easiest job I have ever had. You don't do anything but drive, and the driver lounges at most of the places you load and at the tank washes are usually nice. Just missed the challenge of flatbedding. Been doing strictly Oversize/Heavy Haul now for the past 15 years. It can be very challenging at times, but it is VERY addictive. I plan on getting my own authority IF, and it is a HUGE IF, I think it is likely that Obama will not be reelected. Don't think the overall business climate will get any better if he is able to get reelected. So, I would stay where I am, and keep my steady paycheck. Anyway, glad I found the site and hope I can be of help to someone. I know I will get some great info on the current state of O/O situations. Anything I can do to help any new drivers, let me know. I still think this is a great way to make a living. It is, however, not for everyone. Just like commercial fishing isn't!! Be safe out there. SEE YA!! Robert
