They are not CB radios to begin with .....
They can't be certified because they never were ....
The FCC never thought of this and don't require certification for radios under 30 mhz.
They have a aprovial rule mostly part 15 but it has nothing to do with cb.
this site lists many of the radios just type in the FCC ID number.

Not all Galaxys are 10 meter exports, but I know what you mean.
That's probably why you hear so many radios out there that are distorted and splatter across the next 6 channels any direction. Because the FCC removed the certification for someone to fix radios. So now anyone with a screwdriver, a pair of diagonal cutting pliers and a soldering iron, can "call" himself a tech.WA4GCH Thanks this. -
TRUE VERY TRUE

I got my First class in 1967 when I renewed it the last time in 82 they changed it to a GROL ........
It is cute but has little meaning .... -
There you go again....nag, nag, nag.
That's why they are fun. And it doesn't hurt a thing. Just stay out of the ham band.

Well you are sadly right about hacked up radios and "tweaknicians". However, there are some really good technicians out there can tune and align a export radio to perform really well.....like mine! Don't know how/why the proper use of an export radio seems to offend you boys?????? You really need to get over it.

EXPORT RADIOS FOR DUMMYS
-
I don't care if you use an export or not. Heck I used to run one a few years ago before I sold it. All I can do is just advise you "learn" what the "band" switch is for, and ensure you never turn it, or if you do, then have a freq. counter on the radio and learn what freq's the citizens band runs on. (26.965 to 27.405)
Do the above and you'll be ok. But you accidentally flip the switch and realize "hhmmm here's a quiet channel" and land on the wrong frequency, you could be faced with a fine/warning from the FCC.
