Folks, it's NOT about safety, the issue is regulation and compliance. We know that no one magically changes into a dangerous killer seconds after the work day ends. We know how unintelligent these stupid regs are, but the point is that Uncle Slam doesn't care. Work within the rules or get severely punished.

"Regulation and Enforcement for Fun and Profit".

Wait 'till they govern your rides down to 62 MPH- that's where the real fun begins.

Do you expect your speedo to lie for you?

    Your air weighs?

You make the choice to violate the laws set forth for operating a commercial motor vehicle. Same as you do when you choose to speed, blow a red light, over load your equipment, or the myriad of decisions people make.

You face the consequences for those decisions. Yes we can tell you how many hours to drive because you ask permission for use of the roads.

All the crap about being forced to drive tired is a ##### myth. You know the regs. If you can not make your loads inside the rules haul less or get tougher.Bunch of pansies can not even work an 11 or 14 hour shift without a nap.

So yeah go home and have a record. Do it everyday and kill someone on the way home one time and enjoy the 3X7 without wheels you'll be enjoying.

Oh but it is so enlightening when people post how hard it is going to be to follow the law when they are actually tracked. I am sure trial lawyers, law makers, and people like PATT and Crash just love the vindication of the belief truckers regularly break the law and forsee massive changes in the way they will have to operate when their lies get harder to cover.

Reinforces my belief that the people having issues with Elogs are consistently out of compliance now and cover by lying.

Yes I know you say it is 5 minutes today, and only ten tommorow. Pretty soon it's screw 'em I'm going home if it's two hours over.

Pretty soon someone will be up all day in a shop and kill a van load of people trying to get home in Kentucky! Although now it will not take months of paper tracking to confirm serious violations in HOS. Nope all those little "fixes" your asking your boss for will prove culpability on both your parts.

If it truly is 5 minutes once every six months or so log it and drive it. At least you can look a jury in the eye honestly to account for your actions.

If the HOS regulations were strictly about SAFETY, and were based upon sound research, with enough flexibility built in to allow drivers to drive when they are awake & alert, and rest when they aren't...then I might give a #### about maintaining strict compliance with them.

The current rules have little to do with safety. They were written by a bunch of bureaucrats who have never seen the inside of a truck and have no clue what goes on in the real world outside the beltway. Their goal is to generate revenue...nothing more, nothing less.

When placed in a position where I must choose between what is "SAFE" and what is "LEGAL", I will choose "SAFE" each and every time. It is better to be illegally safe than legally dead.

I appreciate your sound logic bulldog.....but I can assure you it will fall on deaf ears when tazz sees this. Ya see he one of those that beleives that if its the law......it MUST be safe. He's most likely to come on here spouting the same rubbish he did earlier...."you need to be tougher ya bunch of pansies". COMPLIANCE COMPLIANCE.....that's all he knows.

not sure how the dot regs have changed this loophole you are allowed to drive 2 hours over for these conditions have no idea how this works on e logs but when your time is up you have to be allowed some leeway to reach a safe place to stop
