there is not a day that goes by where someone is bashing a company for this and that. What always amazes me is that the amount of complaints are from a small handful of drivers who just did not make it. Crst is just one of many who are bashed here.

I am going to do a long winded post, first for everyone and then geared to those who have never set foot into the industry and are about to.

Where to start!!! There is so many places to start. Okay here we go, we are in gear now, no pun intended. Stop already and get a life!!! Stop with your bs!!! Stop bashing a company and making it seem like the entire company is bad, based upon your experience(s), with crst.

I have been here a long time and so has my partner. We are not stupid, we could go anywhere and drive. Together we have 45 years in the business, combined and 35 at this one carrier, combined. There is not a company out there that would not hire us, team or solo!!!

If you are out here and you can't make enough money to live, than you need to talk to someone. There is a problem and the only way to fix a problem is to speak up about what issues you have.

Someone said that a driver manager said the companies concern is the trucks and they took offense to that. Lets break the news right now...crst like any trucking company does not make money from the customers freight, they make money hauling it, so hell yea, the companies concern is with the trucks.

Some of the statements people make here when bashing companies goes to the ignorance column. Some of you get five stars for the day.

First off, if your partner is not doing his or her logs but you are, then when they get stopped at a weigh station, it is on them. Worry about yourself. If you are doing your pretrip reports and your partner isn't, it's on them, not you. Team does mean that one takes the hit for the other stupidity.

For the wives on here, i say this, and please know i have a wife of my own at home, and this is not personal but may seem like it. Stop talking about stuff you don't know about. If your hubby is not making money or is not getting home time, stop bashing crst and look inside your own home.

What i mean by that is this. If your husband is not getting miles and has a driver manager that doesn't get them the miles, there is a reason for it and that reason comes down to driver performance.

When a driver manager has a team that can't arrive on time to deliver or pick up, cries about everything under the sun, between two drivers, can't get more than 2600 miles a week down the road for reasons other than weather or mechanical breakdown that is not due to driver error, than how can that driver manager give a team 6000 miles a week in freight and expect that team to get the job done?

If a team has a record of only being able to accomplish very little, than they will get very little in return and when your income depends upon being able to turn miles and you can't turn them, than don't expect to make real dollars and cents.

Wives need to stop painting a picture of despair and bashing crst. Think before you say things.

Now for the new people, trying to get into the industry. Crst is a good company. They have alot of pluses and of course minuses, but when you look at both, the pluses outweigh the minuses.

Crst trains people to do the job they are being hired for, which is driving a truck. In order to give you the tools you need to succeed, they need to put you through school. Every employer does this and has been doing it for years and ages.

A kid graduates college and gets a degree, they obtain a job with their first employer, knowing absolutely nothing more than theories. The employer takes them in, provides training so that kid can have the tools to do the job. There is a cost to do that, the difference between those employers and crst is that crst expects to be paid back if someone fails on their own. That is smart business and i know you may not want to hear that. Not everyone is going to make it, this is why you don't make friends in school, you may never see them again.

You need to realize that crst is making a commitment to you and by signing the contracts, your making a commitment to crst and if you don't live up to that commitment, than you should pay it back. The fact that crst expects to be paid back, should be a sign for you, that this is a serious as a heart attack company, that plays no games. I have never known anyone at this company that is not all business. This is a job, not a country club. If you want the country club life, get a different job.

You are going to have to put up with alot in this job. From the day you get onto the truck after your training, you are going to be expected to perform and perform well. There is not a trucking company in existence that is not going to expect this.

This is real work for working men and working woman. Shippers and receivers are not always nice to you. You will need to understand route planning, in other words, how to get from point a to b within the miles you have available for the day.

You need to get it into your head that your here to do a job that requires alot. If you think your going to see the country and sight see, you won't. You will pass through cities like indianapolis, cleveland, chicago, los angeles and never see the city up close.

If you go to school and look at your existence from the start as a business and not a job, you will have a different perspective on things. When you look at things as a job, you are only committed to a certain extent. When you look at this as a job, you will already have it in the back of your mind that you can get up and go somewhere else.

When you look at it as a business, you will realize that you need to succeed. Once your assigned to a truck, it is a business, even if crst is holding title to the truck. You need to run your truck as a business at all times. If you do it from day one as a company driver, you will carry that mindset over to the owner operator/lease operator opportunity, when you are eligible and really ready.

I have been in some cities where there are three truck stops on the road and i went to the one who had the cheaper fuel price, even if it meant i would be passing on a shower credit. Sometimes you need to make these decisions that are not popular.

In closing, here is what i am saying about treating it like a business. Crst is really lending you their money to get started. This is like buying into a franchise. They are saying that for everyday you roll down the roads of america, over the course of eight months, you are repaying that loan through your hard work and being a man or woman of your word and fulfilling the commitment you made.

Stop listening to the handful of jackholes that come here and bad mouth crst. Look at the number of drivers at the company versus the small amount who bad mouth crst.

At year one, you go to .34 cents a mile, so if you can survive year one, you will see better money and better things. If your a screwup, than you should be expected to be cut loose.

The Per Diem thing is easy, call your Dispatcher and tell them you want to opt out.
The .22 a mile is bad with split miles if you aren't getting the miles. If you are running 6000-7000 a week, you will do OK once your deductions are paid back. Technically, you can figure you make .22 for half the miles or .11 for all of them.

But, if Melton will hire you, go for it......

Obviously you are talking from a standpoint of being misinformed because no one earns .11 per mile.

I would stop reading posts from those with no real knowledge of the pay scale and by the way, I hear Burger King is hiring 50,000 new people across the country, and I believe they are holding a burger flipping position open for you, just heard man, so hurry up and go get that job.

I even heard that you are first on the list to head up flipper U.

I don't know you, and don't know what you deal is and don't care. If you left CRST because you had issues than that's for you to deal with.

I could say alot about you but choose not to because I don't care enough to get into a trash talking event with you.

I will say that when I was a trainer, I would have put you off the truck on day 1 of 28, for having a negative attitude.

There is a reason I succeed at this company and it all stems from having a great attitude. Perhaps we come from different paths in life and this industry. I am one of the drivers in this industry that has worked hard for all I have.

Personally, I have seen many come and go at CRST, some from being released due to problems they caused to manifest and some from just wanting out. It is just the way it is.

I never said CRST is the perfect company, we certainly have our share of issues and people who do things that they do.

I have never had a issue with this company in 13 years. Not one, nada. I love what I do, wouldn't do anything else and for any other company.

I look forward to getting up everyday and doing what I do and those who have left, did so for reasons known to them.

Other than all of this, I hope your doing well where you are at.

Oh well I've talked to the recruiter myself and her words were we only do team driving and you make 22 cent a mile to split. Umm sounds like 11 cent a mile to me. I understand that some people do bash companies but CRST is constantly being talked about Daily. Check the BBB and the rip off reports. CREngland doesn't even have a whole bunch of negative posts like CRST does.

You could look at it that way if you want. You get paid .11/mile for every mile that truck moves whether you are driving or sleeping....or .22/m with split MILES since there are TWO drivers. No different than a solo was driving at .22/mile, you just go 2 times further per day. There is a reason your pay is .22/m. Did you pay for your CDL? No? Well someone did...and they want you to pay it back for them fronting the money. Now if you had your CDL AND you were making .22/m then that would be different.
