Well, one of the first things I learned in school was not to cut in line. Then there was a bunch of stuff about spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure but I slept through most of that. The not cutting in line thing stuck, though.

I'm glad someone sees it like I do. If they aren't blocking at the back of the line, they are wasting their time. It's monkee see monkey do. They don't put much thought into it. There ain't no sense blocking at the front.

Well since you put it that way I guess your right its just helps me sleep at night.
The line will be the Same length but the links will be back where they belong not all bunched up in front of everyone that can read a sign 1, 2, 3, or up to 30 miles back.

Well out here a move like that wouldn't work as 4wlrs would just pass you on the grass, burm, emergency lane or what ever gap there is that is phisically possible to get past and believe me there will be NO BODY giving them a ticket either and you could get yourself shot.
I'm also not in favour of using a truck as a weapon or tool but out there I can see how this can work and I don't see it being dangers or causing accidents either aslong as you not swerving or driving aggressively.

The thing to remember is yes you are a "rolling roadblock"
Its qwicker and easier for vehciles to merge behind a "roadblock" that is MOVING than to merge from a stand still as they do once they have rushed like an idiot to the front, stopped and now try and force themselfs infront of irate motorists who have been doing the rite thing.
ALSO vehciles planning to do this cowboy act of rushing up the hammer lane to get to the front spot the "traffic cop trucker" and his plan from a distance and realise they had better merge like humans and so end up doing it the rite way.
So I do see how this manover can indeed help things go a LITTLE qwicker if not just deliver some much needed justice to these A HOLES!

If you have the kahoonas to do it go for it, if u not in favour of it don't do it that simple.

Truck on people and truck safely and courteously.

Gotta start somewhere. If you start at the back, then nothing is going to happen. You're still going to have a line of traffic all the way up to the merge and it's going to be there until you get to the merge. So how's that suppose to work at all?

You start wherever you are when you see a need for it. The trucks further back see it happening further up and they do it to. Monkey see, monkey do, chain reaction all the way back. Then you have one lane of traffic going through one lane of construction. The alternative is two or more lanes of traffic jammed like a bunch of idiots for as far as you can see with nobody moving. I don't get paid to sit in traffic.

As a Civil Engineer, the always amuses and upsets me. The lane closures are designed for a certain flow of traffic. Before construction ever begins, the rate of flow is determined. The area is surveyed, then the lanes marked. The entire length is calculated by using the full length of all lanes, so when someone plays traffic cop, they are potentially creating a dangerous situation.

On a project in Michigan, we were on I-275 S to M-14 W ramp. Its a two lane exit. We used the I-275 shoulder and right lane to extend the exit since we had to close the left lane about 1/2 way to the merge. I can not tell you how many times I saw someone blocking the left lane with a "rolling roadblock." Some people just have their heads up their #####, since this was causing the estimated length to be way off and there were people stopped on I-275 S in the right lane, not to mention to shoulder lane was backed up to the extension. We asked for and received the cooperation of the state police to assist with reducing the issue. They cooperated by not pulling anyone over until they were well past the end of construction.

BTW, have a bad headache, so my English is a bit off, I am sure.

That explains why the closures make no sense.

We were doing a rolling road block behind two troopers who were leading us and had asked us to do it on our radios. One reason. Our trucks protected them from fast traffic merging in. These punk kids passed us in the ditch on the right and when coming back out of the ditch they ran right into the right hand patrol car because they couldn't see it from the angle that they were coming up out of the ditch. Justice came to those teens. LOL
