"Having an opinion" and being deliberately insulting are not the same thing.

Well,I hate to admit, but thats where i got my 06' 387, found out later that they buy the problem child trucks from werner, celedon, and I think at least one other, had this truck for about 25 months, and over 30,000 in repair late and still not right, when talking to them at lone mt. they just say, "you need to be resonable", Oh, just to add, they keep moving there lot, they started in LAs vegas, nv, where I live then moved to pacific junction,IA, and know have moved again, My personal rating for them FFF

Lone Mountain definitely doesn't purchase "problem child" trucks. Every truck we buy is inspected by Lone Mountain and we expect our customers, or anyone buying a used truck, to also do a thorough inspection before they take the truck. It wouldn't do us any good to buy or sell bad trucks.

I would recommend doing all of the tests that Rooster007 mentioned in his post.

$30,000 over the course of 25 months is quite a bit. But most experts say that it costs about .10/mile to maintain a used truck. At 10,000 miles per month that would be $25,000.

We had a Vegas and Minnesota office and then centralized everything in Iowa about 4 years ago. This is still our main office. We also opened up another location in Georgia about 2 years ago. So we haven't moved in the last 4 years.

Can some of you owners help me out on the average cost of
    DOT inspections...
    dyno...
and can someone explain ''blow by''
ya I know I don't know a lot of basic knowledge that others do and my goal is
    to own/operate and learn.
I'll just throw my cards on the table. I'm savin anywhere from 2200 to 2400 a month as a company driver. well this is my first month and I saved 2200, my goal is 2400 month. that is with taking care of all my bills. so by december I expect 13,000 and change at least. put down 4 to 5000 at lone mountain and then save the rest for expenses. I am undecided on which company I want to go to. other than that, that is my goal for this year. thanks to anyone who replies. I appreciate it.

I've been out of the business for quite a few years and I'm researching to get back in. There should be some much wiser owner/operators that will answer you.

I'll share what little information I have put together. If anyone wants to correct me I will gladly accept it.

I have seen drivers talking about $80 - $130 for a DOT inspection. I have seen drivers quoting $200 - $250 for a dyno run. Blow by numbers depend on the engine based on my limited research. I was told (I don't know if it's true) for a Caterpillar you take the horsepower times two times 80% and that is the highest that blow by should be. If that were true a 500 HP would be 500 * 2 = 1000 times .80 = 800. I know Cummins numbers are more like 12 inches and Detroit seems to be lower.

Maybe we'll both get some knowledge here. I've been looking at a dealer in Springfield and all the inspections, dyno and oil samples are already done at a reputable shop. I would want to verify this before I accepted it. The dealer is Quality Truck Sales and they have listings on Truck Paper. Their listings will give you a number of dyno reports to look over.

if you get the truck at tiffton, ga. it will be around $200-$250
learn LEARN BEFORE you get a truck....! if your not ready (not just money) you will not make it
truck payment will be about $1400 and $1000 for maintenance (.10 X 10,000 ml)
i can tell you have not been out here long
$5000 down, $250 dyno-dot, $550 2290 (for the irs) $1400-$1800 for plate, fuel to get home $500-$750...? $500-$1000 setting up the truck before you even leave to go to work. fuel to go to orientation... that about $10,000 to get on the road and you need a signed contract with a carrier BEFOR you can get your plate so you need to go to orientation sign your contract then take the conract to YOUR dmv to get your plate and it my not be your local dmv (in TN the only 1 place to get your plate and it is in NASHVILLE.

now as to why i think you have not been out here long freight is ALWAS slow from jan-mar/april so take that extre time to learn everything you can and SAVE then if you still want to do it do it in april,

Some great information from Flood. Waiting past the slow freight time will also reduce the cost of your base plate. At least in Missouri it will. Let's say the base plate is $2400. If purchased in Jan - Mar it is $2400, Apr - Jun is $1800, Jul - Sep is $1200 and Oct - Dec is $600. Not all states are the same. Some set the expiration date by the name so not everyone renews at the same time. In Missouri you must drive to Jefferson City to purchase your apportioned plate.

There is an enormous amount of valuable information in the docked threads in the "Ask An Owner Operator" section, if you haven't read all of them yet. These are some great threads too:
