Just got back on the road from vacation. I had to be in Florida on the 12th for a flight early the next morning. But by the afternoon of the 10th, I was stuck in Nashville, TN. I had to call, beg, plead, and felt like "perform an obscene act" to get a driver to switch with me to get me home. So, DJ, I 100% agree with you about hometime becoming a chore. I've thought about relocating to Toon-Town to work in the office. Show some people how it's done and how to plan.

I seriously don't think planners check anything until someone ####### about it. A great example is how there's a load in Laredo with countless trucks available and they finally send the load to a driver who's waited no telling how long with the pre-dispatch instructions, "Can you deliver on time?" WTF? We can see when that load was dropped. When does the dead weight in the office get shown the door?

It happened again: Put in for the 28th, so I could get home on the 30th. So on the 26th I was sitting in San Antonio when they send me a load going to Laredo to deliver in Beaumont,TX on the 4th of August. What a bunch of #######! Giving me a load that doesn't even deliver for a week and a half. IDIOTS! So finally they get me heading to KC. I deliver there on the 28th with 618 miles to the house and 2 days to get there. Beautiful right.... NOT! They give me a load going to MS delivering on the 8/1. again IDIOTS! So they tell me to get me outta there is to grab a load heading south and switch with someone.. yeah right. BUT i had no other choice I grabbed a load going to Laredo with 2nd stop in boot heel MO. The guy I'm supposed to swap with was never told to stop. WTH! So I drove to the T/S and told them I'm leaving in the morning with or without the load. Never heard a word from them. So I drove home...
Boy did that piss them off! Oh well! I paid $1.50 for every mile not approved :( Just cause they are Retarded IDIOTS. Needless to say I will not be returning to PAM.
    And neither should anyone else!

I normally don't do this, but I'm gonna do it, anyway. I'm goting to refute what you just said, and what a good driver with the right attitude would have done.

The load from Laredo to Beaumont. "OK, I'll pick it up, but would like me to t-call the load in Houston, since it's not due in Beaumont for another week?" You know we have a drop yard in Houston, right?

Switching loads with another driver. "Could I please get the other driver's phone number so we can communicate on where and when to switch?" That tells me it was poor planning on your part.

And KNOWINGLY going out-of-route at $1.50/mi without authorization is just plain assinine.

If you read the post I have up there, yes, it can get a little difficult to get you home.

I really do wish you well in your future endeavors, but please, for your own sake, have a better attitiude.

Picking up a load in Laredo going to Beaumont 9 days early is just plain retarded. Don't even bother dropping it in Houston, because they would tell you no, since it's not our yard, and there isnt really room for loads sitting there. If I had got a load sent to me 4 days before I need to be home with THAT much time, I would call the DM. Laredo to Beaumont is only 7 hours. They could give that load to someone the day before it was due. Should have called DM and explained the hometime thing, and asked if there was anything else either going towards Michigan, or at least further north where you could get something to t-call in N Jackson or even Blue Island.

Plenty of loads going from Laredo to Lansing, Taylor or even Flint.

Noggin, I agree with you about picking up nine days early being retarded, but I've never been to the Houston yard. I know it's there, just never been there. I know you live in the area, so you would know. If

PAM DOES drop trailers there, however I don't think Central would let one sit there for THAT long. I mean, I t-called there a few times, but it was a load that delivered either that day or the next. Remember, it's a Central yard, but they also share it with LTI, so there are all of their trailers you have to consider as well.

Believe me I left out a lot to this story in order to condense it,
    1. In San Antonio i made 3 phone calls and 2 qcomm messages.
    2. They said nothing going to MI from Laredo in next 2days (BS, only reason is because they are dedicated team routes or O/O routes and they will not give those up to p.o.s. solo drivers)
    3. I got them to get me North, but only to KC.
    4. on the swap, i sent 3 qcomm messages to find out where the swap driver was, with no response, (idiot auto dispatcher). So then i call her, yeah right she says ok ill send you that info if i want, and then hangs up(what a biaaaatcch)
    5. If i have to do the job of telling the load planners and dispatcher where and when and how to do their job, to get me home.... then I want more $$$.
    6. I was easy going and patient to a point they had 1.5 weeks to plan me home, and couldn't do it.
As far as tcalling to Houston, that woulda put me 1200 miles from home on the day b4 i needed to be home, would u take it then?
Oh and my DM we'll just call him B. Is new and also a total idiot with NO clue about the trucking industry. One of those College kids I bet with a degree, which makes him think hes smart haha
I know i had a pissy attitude but you would of to, For what I had going on @ home, and needing to be there, and PAM having amble of time to plan accordingly plan for it. 2 words Retarded IDIOTS!

There's probably 50 trucks in Laredo waiting to get out of there give it to one of them. That shows you the amount of attention people pay to load assignments.
