As I said earlier Laredo and back to Irving is to far for a shuttle driver to run without stopping over night in a motel

I know there are teams that do nothing but trips from Irving to Laredo and back. One of my friends from trucking school does them.

I'll throw this out there...it's kind of in the same neighborhood as this thread

I'm under a load going to Salisbury, NC, which is due tomorrow by 10am. Drop/hook. Why would weekends tell me to keep it until then, when I can make the delivery today?

I can think of a couple of reasons. First, the consignee might not be open for you to drop it on Sunday. Second, weekend dispatch may be too inexperienced, too overworked, or just too #### lazy to want to deal with finding you a load.

How close are you to being out of hours?

There just to lazy to find you a load and its close enough to day shift coming in. I had a drop with 6 hours left for today and I already know Im going to be sitting in this little town in the middle of nowhere til tomorrow morning.

Guess i should be glad to be where i am, never told to t-call, Im guess that means you have to give up a load, If for some reason they want my load, they will ask me if I can swap with another driver, maybe load will get them home or there out of hours or something, but never just tell me im loosing a load, for me, i would work for a company like that, but see a lot of 1 -3 year drivers posting on this, maybe thats part of the being a rookie, and having to deal with that kind of crap

Laredo aka the black hole from which nothing escapes lol. Almost as bad as willard OH. And one thing I have realized is I can count on my dm to take care of me, but night and weekend could give a squat less. For instance I was scheduled to pick up my GF on friday. Dropped my load thurs eve and night dispatch gives me a shuttle run which screws up the preplan my dm had for me and I wind up picking her up 2 days late and she only had a week off to ride with me.

Such is life I guess. My DM was a bit irritated when he found out and busted his hump to get me a load through PA.

I don't get how a lot of drivers get "stuck" in Laredo. As a solo driver and as a trainer, I've had loads within a few hours. Now, picking up the load was a different story. Always waiting on Mexico. But I rarely ever stayed more than 24 hours there.

The only time I would ever been stuck in Laredo is when a trailer is still stuck in customs or hasn't crossed the border yet. If I learn the trailer isn't on the yard, unless I need to take my 10-hr break, I say, "Find me another one."
