I have seen that also. I have what they call a bomber togo switch with a red flip up cover kinda like they have in fighter planes.

I pull hopper bottoms and belly dump gravel haulers. Kind of a given for being in North Dakota and working at an elevator (the hopper bottom anyway). We've got a project going that requires a lot of gravel though so the boss bought a couple belly dump gravel trailers. I really like hopper bottoms though for some reason...probably because I haven't pulled much else.
This is the most interesting trailer I've pulled! Used to haul fertilizer.

Yes sir it is brand new Construction brand trailer with a Shurco electric tarp. The only thing I don't like about it is no air ride.BIGMIKE1 Thanks this.

'Ol no.7 looks purty sharp in front of that belly dump,BigJohn
. What's your empty weight with the dump? Good looking trailer, too.
Welcome to the hopper/dump thread,PianoMan. Good to have you aboard. How's the crops looking in your neck of the woods this year?Big John Thanks this. -
There aren't any...too much flooding this spring to get the tractors rolling. It's all weeds...in my county there was maybe 15% seeded. However, just across the state line into Montana they got nearly 100%. The elevator I work for delivers a lot of fertilizer to Montana and that is were most of our product went this year.dairyman Thanks this.

Dairyman did you get your exhaust manifold stud replaced? Did that job end up being more painful than getting dressed up and going to the class reunion?
The 3406 we used to have broke the back 4 studs on us once, but I wasn't brave enough to tackle that myself, so I took it to a shop.
That trailer looks nice Big John, good luck with it.
Wecome to the hopper thread, PianoMan. Sorry to hear about the crops out there. We need a rain badly here, it keeps either going just north or south of us, or breaks up as it rolls across Missouri. We'll have some kind of crop, but its looking like it will be a mediocre one.

RW.,the exhaust manifold stud was by FAR the most painful
,(plus my wife's looking over my shoulder as i type this
). I ended up drilling a tad off-center and was scared the whole time i was gona break off the easy-out in the hole so i took my time. It was in the easiest place to get to,or i would'nt have tried doing it myself. Probably won't try it again either, kept thinking i wus seeing water seeping out the hole as i was drilling the hole thru the stud
.
RW. and wheathauler Thank this. -
I just want to share to everyone that after a few years if accident free frameless dump work for curry I got screwed. They finally closed the doors. Problem is that they never set up a way for anyone ( such as future employers) to verify employment . Basically I've lost most of my verifiable experience . So nearly four years of total work has been cropped to a staggered eight months of random OTR . I'm looking at possibly having to go to another CDL school and start over. Anyone have suggestions?
