Everyone goes to the Megas because they are the ones that you can find in the mags and on the internet. Nobody knows how to find out about the other companies.

:biggrin_2554: Talking just like someone domiciled in Joplin would,,,give me a break,,that newby hit the nail square on the head and you know it,,Ive been here 10 years myself and he said the EXACT TRUTH,,,YOU dont even know the #### insurance rates and youve been here 19 years??? And he is right about Herb, when is the last time he was at a drivers meeting,,,hell try to get him to answer a call,,see your one of those drivers that dont understand the world outside of this company(and you seem to have drank the "Blue-Koolaide",,,ever since they "aquired CFI my miles have steadily gone down,,,and yes this year I WONT even be able to get 120,000,,nothing about my habits have changed only theirs has

One thing he did leave out and this is fact(ask John jamison,Candi,Sullins or any other,,Conway dictates mileage based on trends(I.E. fuel cost and freight indexes) so now we are at a 300-350 mile per day,2500 per week, less than 10,000 mile a month mandate by the Corparation(and dont even tell me your doing better than 11,000 per month cause your not)

Just like my Fleet Mgr told me last week,,"What is 350 miles a day times 30 days???answer 10,500,,and the fleet avg right now is 2230 per week(equals??? yes 8920) so if your getting over 9000 well thats why you are sitting

See you live in Joplin so it is not a prob getting you home when you want,in fact you by taking loads and dropping them there are part of the bigger problem,,like when ur highlighted from Laredo,,you take the good long freight and drop it off in Joplin,,and there it sits

Yeah Newb there hit it all right on the head it is all true to fact

OKAY YET AGAIN a few corrections as "UTOPIA" is not here

1.Vacay; 3 weeks(yearly) does not kick in till you amass 2 million miles

2.Detention is ONLY paid (to the Driver) AFTER the third hour starts and he gets HALF of your $17.50 an hr

3.Stop pay only kicks in AFTER the 2nd stop

4.Mileage pay CPM,you failed to tell everyone that those rates are only for ONE year, after the second year every HALF cent raise is based on total miles driven, after you reach .38cpm every pay raise is in Half cent increments based on unnatainable yearly rates

5.referral bonus, again you r HALF right,,1000 per driver,,and oh yeah that is not paid up front but in monthly increments(so they can tax the crap out of it

A quick look back at Conway Truckload.Emery air freight, contract carrier was Conway,I worked for them for a year out of N Hartford Ct..Nice run, relayed in younstown Oh.,took break and back to Ct.Conway decides to get into mail, under the name of Menlo. When they signed contract for mail and sold contract to Covnent for the Emery acct.they put about 500 guys on the street. And for those who care, don't forget what they did to Consolidated.Closed with out notice. That is the gr8 Conway way of doing biz.

I make delivery to conway trucking manchester nh on regular basis.
They get me in and out quick and seem friendly not like bad attitudes so common especially in the Northeast.

I have worked at CWTL for 3 years now, and where I can admit they arent the worst, they are certainly far from the best. Things seemed so good when I first started here, I really thought this was a great company, but slowly but surely they are turning into this uncaring machine of a monster company that doesnt care at all about their drivers. I keep talking to all the different drivers I bump into out there on the road and they all seem to feel the same way, at least that is the impression they are giving. The pay here is a joke. Started out, I got paid for everything I did, never had to say anything never had to ask for it, if something out of the ordinary happened my fleet manager would send me some kind of pay for it. Now, all I ever see is my mileage pay and some reimbursements for this and that. Layover, they weasel their way out of it for some reason or another. Detention, thats a joke they dont pay detention, they always have a reason not to pay you it. Its funny that the only real thing we get paid for is the easiest part of this job....Driving. And that is dictated to us by planners and fleet managers. We dont get a choice on whether we want to work hard today or not, it is dictated via qualcomm what work we have available. I thought for sure that when these E logs happened they would work on the whole preplan thing and we would always know where our next load was going to be, but that is a joke too. Now you make a delivery, put in your empty call and just wait for hours and hours sometimes, just to get a load you could have picked up immediatly after you delivered your last load. This company has become so unefficient thats its hard to believe. I cant tell you how many times I have sat for hours on end after making my delivery, decide I am going to head to the nearest truck stop or rest area, and then all of a sudden I will get a load and its headed the other way from the truck stop or rest area I was just headed to. Out of route miles?? I guarantee you 99% of my out of route miles are Their Fault. Just by keeping me in the loop of what is going on would allow me to plan my day and driving better. Once again I know they are not the worst company out there, but it just gets really annoying when you see a great company turn into this innefficient machine that doesnt give a rats ##### about its drivers anymore. It seems like every week I find another reason to keep looking for a better job.

I started with Conway Truckload almost two years ago. They do have a lot of rules, any good company does. They are not perfect, no company is? I have to assume that you have not taken advantage of going through the chain of command before you hopped on here to talk about what a horrible company this is, as you never stated this was an option. Anytime you have a problem you can go to the next in line until you get all the way to Herb himself. I would like to say that we are very happy with Conway!! We have two big dogs that they let us take on the truck, a brand new KW T660 studio sleeper! We had to give a deposit for each but that's alright. This company has let us take extra time off when needed, allowed us to use the truck under a load for an emergency vet visit and always worked with us during special situations. We usually get more miles than we even want, with the exception of slow freight seasons. I believe if you have a problem at Conway that is so bad you feel you have to quit, you are not utilizing all of your resources. It is always easier to blame the "mega" company than look at yourself. Do you have an attitude before you even get ahold of ops? Do you think that makes people want to work with you...? Conway IS the big family :biggrin_25525:that you hear about, but every family has some black sheep. :biggrin_25525:

Wow!! I never said CWTL was a horrible company. I am not sure what world you live in and I sure dont come off with an attitude whenever I talk to anyone in OPS. I treat everyone I talk to with respect as, I never blame the people I talk to for any problems I am having, they work at this company just like I do. As for the chain of command, I have talked to people and had some issues resolved, but the main issues I have are with company policies, not the people. I will not fight or argue over pay, I know what a good job I do for them....I am never late, I do everything they ask of me and I dont complain. But if I sit at a shipper or reciever for 6 hours after being on time for my appointment (verifiable by qualcomm) I should get paid for it, regardless of whether they get paid for it or not. Obviously other people are having problems with this too hence, the fleet message we got about it just yesterday. I dont blame the "mega" company because it is a "mega" company. I prefer to work at a larger company because I think they would be more stable. I do think they have lost their personal touch though and become more of a machine, since I have worked here. When I started here, I thought everyone was on some kind of happy pill, every time you called in the person on the other end was happy to hear from you, now they are (mostly but not all) in a real hurry to get off the phone with you. Maybe your experience is different but you need to understand their are other people that work here that might not have this wonderful "family" experience that you say IS here...I guess I must be the black sheep huh? But, I sure do meet alot of other black sheep out here in the real world. I never said I was quitting, just that I was looking for better opportunities...as I think most people always have their eyes open for a better opportunity to come along. But it does seem like every week now they give me one more reason to look harder.
