I don't want a new truck. Mine has 450k on it and I'm used to it. I don't want a prostar either, they are installing those battery cooling units over apu's and they only have a 10-12 hour life. No thanks.

I believe the Prostar autostarts when the cooling unit batteries are drained.

There is also the fact that my dad had one of those when he worked for Halvor and it caught on fire while he was in the bunk. Luckily it was during the day and someone woke him up.

Hope you don't have to wait too long for a trainer... I know that was an issue in the past, but I'm not sure on the number of trainers now. Good luck, keep and open mind, and listen, and you will do fine.

Just curious as to what kind of electronic stuff can you power in a Roehl truck. (tv,laptop, etc.) And, can you have a fridge or will I have to go with one of those 12v coolers.

You are not allowed to have a 120 volt fridge. You are allowed to use a 12 volt cooler or a 12 volt fridge. The trucks that have APU's in them also have 1800 watt inverters. That will run almost anything you want to run like a microwave, tv, laptop, etc. If you don't get one with an APU, you can run a tv and laptop on a small inverter that plugs into the 12 volt outlet. I would start out with a cooler from walmart, I think you can still get them for around $70. They are about $100 at the truckstops. They usually will last for awhile, as long as you keep the fans clean and make sure the plug stays tight in the outlet. I hope this helps...

    Shotsjc Thanks this.

I'm confused about these apu's. Do they shut down after just 2 hours? I thought I read that.

Why can't you run a 15 amp mini fridge by plugging it into the inverter?

The two hour shut down is only the inverters on the new Prostars. The new Prostars do not have APUs.
