I pull a flat and I make that kind of money leased to a carrier.

Some people who use EOBR's seem to like them, but the majority to whom I talk with don't seem to like them. I think the parking is only going to get worse as more carrier have them installed. These people who come up with these nutty rules never seem to understand that there are repercussions which may not have been anticipated. That is why the private sector usually test markets new ideas or products. It is a way to see if the product or service is viable or necessary.

Ive thought about that... But I don't have any flatbed experience... Not that I don't have common sense enough to secure a load.. But with exp, it's hard to find a job. Not to mention, I dont have any securement equiptment, or the money to just go out and buy everything I'd need to start...

One company out of Iowa was going to train me, and even allow me to buy the stuff through them... But my truck was too old for them... And I've got a couple of tires that would't pass their inspection...

My buddy got authority in about 5 weeks so it's not that bad. Close to $1600 from what I remember

I doubt it. How many miles a week consistently and which carrier?

CRST Malone will train you on securement as long as you have at least 6 months otr experience. At one time they would finance your securement equipment, but you will probably need a down payment. Your truck will still need to pass their dot inspection.

I would be interested in why it cost your friend so much to get his authority unless he is including the down payment on his insurance. The filing fee is $300. If he paid that much over and above the filing fees then someone is making a lot of money for less than an hour of work. As I recall, it takes less than an hour to fill out the paperwork.

Not even- FMCSA site has a pretty easy guide and it can be done in less than that. 1600 is way tooooo much! #### Im in the wrong business.

That's the company I was talking about... I don't have the deisel to get up there, or the money for tires I'd need when I got there...
