I just got done talking to an un-named CAT shop that will put a 2002 ( I believe 6NZ) ECM on the truck and rate it for 550HP. They said that it should get 1 to 1.5 MPG better.
They cautioned me that the 10 speed trans will them be the weakest link in the set up, and it should not be lugged.
I was intending to switch out to a 13 speed anyway if it ever needed a new one.
I sure hope this works....

Well it worked out that my truck was in Mr. Haney's neighborhood on Saturday, and he came out to tune it up for me. My driver now reports that the truck has gone from a 5 MPG at best, to just getting 7.3 MPG, and doesn't even hesitate to pull a grade. Night and day difference!!!!
Thanks Mr. Haney!!!!! -
which file did you decide to go with??? 550 or 600
-
550, and now that I changed the mufflers I am close to 8 mpg...
-
How much did the tune cost and how long did it take. I'm currently getting 5.25 mpg, about 6mpg hauling an mt trl at 55mph.

I'm curious too, C-10 and 3.42 averaging 8.2 at present. Where's Mr. Haney, anyway?
