I'm currently prescribed 1mg of Kolonipin (think xanax or valium) to take at bedtime and very rarely take the whole pill. Usually 1/2 or less. This is a controlled substance medication. I have been taking it for about 2 years. Only at night. I do not need it in the daytime. I have an almost perfect driving record with only one very minor no fault. I drive very carefully and NEVER take this in the daytime and drive fine at night when I take it. Would this keep me from being accepted to a driving academy? I'm scheduled to leave soon and don't want to go if I'm just going to be wasting my time and have to leave. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Can I get my CDL license if I have a prescription for this?

No it won't prevent you from attending a school or driving. Provided you can cough up the Docs advise, and show you only take them to sleep, and at bedtime.
I know several drivers that take prescription sleep aids. They do just fine. -

Klonopin is usually prescribed as a anti seizure medication or they also can prescribe it for anxiety disorders so it is a class 3 narcotic you need to make sure you tell them you have a persciption for that because when you take your drug screen it will show up.

Just make SURE you let the "Whiz-Quiz" Examiner know the medications you are taking and provide the prescription to them at that time. You shouldn't have a problem, they can differentiate the results IF they know, beforehand, the meds that are supposed to be there and what is not.

My adivise is to have your DR. write the prescription up that you ONLY take it at night before bed, that way the question of when you are taking it should not come up.

choo choo train is right. They don't ask anymore what meds you're on. They will call you if the test comes up positive. That's they way the company I worked for and all the others around me did. I would tell them before you started any driving and it would be best to have your doctor write a letter. Don't wait until it's too late. I know if I was the boss I'd ask why didn't you tell me.
