Good to meet you here!!! I did not search you out, but there is someone here who tells people to look you up.

I like your honest approach, I think you and are are alike in the honesty department. I have been here now 4 years and like I will always tell people who are new with the company, first timers in the industry or are coming back, "Be prepared to work hard here and don't expect nirvana on 18 wheels.

My advice to anyone new is don't treat FFE like it is every other company out there, it isn't".

For those who are new to trucking, zip your lips, open your eyes and your ears, because what you may miss, may kill you one day.

For those coming back to the industry, make copies of all receipts, keep accurate accounting of mileage, keep a 5 subject notebook in your truck and keep a daily activity log, that includes notes of any conversations you had with a driver manager, shop personnel, etc.

You never want it to be a case of he said, she said, because you won't win. Also, never ever have a bad attitude with anyone at Lancaster, cause you will learn first hand that they play no games.

That's my advice to you, take it or leave it.

 

Starting with FFE Aug 22. Wondering if anyone else reading this thread is starting then. This thread has been very helpful in confirming my decicision to go with them. Thanks playmaker for starting this.

Just finished reading the thread, have to say Im about to fill out an app. Have been looking at Stevens and Swift. Y'all threw a wrench in that. I have not even herd of FFE let alone they were in Dallas. Thanks for all the info. Stay safe and good luck.

 

Well, going good thus far. Out of school, in the Grand and finishing up orientation. Hopefully the wait on trainers is not too long.

 

My trainer is one of the good ones but he won't be free for 2 more weeks from now when I am done with my 6 weeks.

 

I'm starting there in 12 days. I'm wondering what, aside from food money, I will need to take for, first, the Academy and second, the first few weeks with my trainer. I would appreciate a checklist. Thanks people

 

I start 2 weeks after you. Some advise I got of these boards was to pack light. I'm bringing money, laptop, shower kit, 1 weeks worth of clothes and a sleeping bag. It is also advised to pack it in soft sided duffels, no hard suitcases.
