Is it just me or does UPS Freight SUCK?!??!?

I work out of the Lakeland,florida DC. We are on the non-union side and they are really getting over on the drivers. We started on the advanced auto parts account in March. We have had 5 guys quit so far because we are averaging about 750 take home a week. They dont pay us to pick up returns at each stop. We get paid .38 cents a mile and 15 dollars per stop. We average 2 to 4 stops a day. at each stop we have to pick up recycled batterries, cardboard etc. and we dont get paid for it. Been driving for 17 years and never had a company tell me we have to pay for our own DOT physical. we are averaging about 1600 to 1700 miles a week. you have been warned. I thank the LORD of heaven for a job but I plan on leaving when opportunity knocks.

 

Word on the street is that UPS Freight Truckload will be shutting down operation in Dec..Not LTL..But "Truckload"..I don't know if it'll effect Advance or not..But if put up for bid,You may be driving under another carrier next year.

 

I like how people say the company is getting over on them and they need the help of the comrades to set the company strait. These are the same drivers that are told what they get payed for and how much and then later #####.

Meanwhile these union drivers who brag about their high salary's but are always broke when contract time rolls around and then strike if the company forgets to put soap in the washroom are jacking up the cost to the American consumer.

The real economic crisis has not even started yet and when it does? Most no one will be able to afford to do business with these union controlled trucking outfits.

 

You know, I have to say one thing about the unions. If we didn't have them we would be hurting bad in the pay department. Now I know lots of companies don't pay union scale and heck, some non-union pay more. The truth is if it wasn't for the unions we would all be making china men wages. That includes the non-union shops too. The non-union shops have to try and keep up with the union shop pay scale or try to be close to it. I have worked union and have always got the shaft from them. I have been laid off from CF back in the day, Roadway and Yellow Freight before they were YRC. However, I still stand by the unions because they increase the standard of living for all of us. I do feel they have grown weaker though. It is sad what is happening to our country and to us.

 

The idea of a union is good but human nature being what it is, the union leaders are corrupted by the power and the money.

 

I work there,and know that upper management is alway's writting Driver's up for stupid things.They treat their employee's very bad and are quite disrespectful..Many Driver's are very unhappy..And my gosh don't have a long illness with them..They will try and get rid of you.A most heartless company,I heard Overnight treated employee's very well,I give them less than 5 year's.

 

I know that this is a trucking site..But,I wanted to add that the dock worker's are so undercompensated and treated also poorly..They do load and unload the freight.This company should be ashamed..But,they are not,because uppermanagement are nothing but(SHARKS).

So your one of those guys who thinks the union should run the company. The entitled to a job crowd.

UPS probably doesn't want to be another YRC and losing money all the time. You do know people start business to make money? and not just to be a vehicle for social justice.

Ya I know, the people at the top are payed to much and should drive a pinto so that the worker can have his justice.

Nothing burns me more then a guy who has it good complaining. Go work for Swift, then you can bellyache.
