Hey all,
Just making my first post and letting you all know how good it is to be here.
I'm starting CDL School at Transportation Training Center in Lebanon, TN. this coming Monday and looking forward to getting my Class A.
I'm 35 and spent the past 5 years and some change doing computer tech work when the company decided it was time to downsize and restructure. So long story short I was laid off and even with computer skills the job market has been tough. Besides it's time to take a break off the computer and get out more *Smiles*
I traveled a lot doing field work and making house calls. Never for months at a time but for a week or two on occasions So I at least have a vague understanding of what that will be like. But I loved the driving from here to there and have always thought about getting my CDL and going OTR. Now I've decided to go for it.
My daughters call me Pa and my oldest has called me Papa Lion since she was a toddler, (She'll be getting her first license in a couple months) hence the nickname. But they live with there mother now so no kids at home that would keep me from making this career change. But it will allow me to support them and if I'm out 2-3 months at a time to do that well then it's worth it.
Anyway, that is a brief version of my story and who I am. Thanks for reading.
