Not sure if this is right. My brother have just been failed by Schneider ( They are not happy with his shifting) The problem is they are not going to pay him even though he has been in orientation for 6 days. Is this Practice right?

But it says on their website that is a PAID orientation. With Swift its clear you are not paid for the three days orientation but Schneider says they will pay for the orientation.

If he was there for training, he will owe them money if he didn't complete training. You only have so many days before they start to pro-rate the time you are there. If he just went for orientation(which is less than 6 days) I would think you would only get paid if they were to hire you. Was he hired as experienced?

They will provide transportation home. They explain everything the first day, including the consequences and/or fees for not completing orientation or training. Although SNI is huge, they do conduct their orientations in a professional manner.

Orientation with anyone is simply an extended job interview. Once you're officially hired and pull a load, you're then paid for orientation... if you're never hired, you just attended an extended job interview and didn't get the job.

The posts above are correct. While taling to the recruiter, and several times over the first couple of days, it is made very clear that there are two outcomes for orientation.

First you can pass orientation and be paid for the week. Second, you do not pass orientation, for whatever reason, and get a bus ticket home.

I am pretty sure that even when you are filling out your paperwork, your hire date is the ay following your last scheduled day of orientation. I started orientation August 6th, but my start date was August 13 (not this year).

Obviously your brother was not paying attention to anything his recruiter said or to anything told to him the first day of orientation. Heck, they even have you sign a piece of paper stating that an invitation to orientation does not mean you are hired. It is a conditional job offer pending graduating orientation. If you are sent home for any reason, you don't get paid, cause you were never hired.
