That's how some of the big companies train. Right, wrong, indifferent, that's what they do.

Yes, and this is exactly why these bleeding heart safety groups should focus on companies that do business like this and quit worrying about stupid little things that won't make a hill of beans difference like EOBR's and speed limiters.

I won't deny that, but with the seriousness of this thread, I chose to let it lie.:biggrin_25525:

To the poster mentioning about my handle, I was a gravedigger by trade for a long time before driving. I sold, made, and installed headstones along with digging and caretaking for 3 cemeteries.

I have dealt with a lot of grieving people. You get hardened to it. You say the best canned responses you have in the most sincere way. You try to help them while keeping in mind you are running a business. Dealing with the other end of the matter is a whole different ball of wax though.

And as for my trainer sleeping. I was already pretty experienced with interstate driving at this point. We were going to be on I10 for a long long time. If I ever had a problem I could wake him up. And I had him beside me for city driving and dealing with shippers and receivers. Interestingly enough though I always seemed to do better when he was sleeping. At the end when I was doing my own pick up and drops without assistance I was shifting perfectly, not coming close to curbs, setting up my backs like a pro.....then when he was up in the passenger seat I would miss gears, clip curbs, get all out of whack backing. I told him this and he said he knew, he wasn't always sleeping when he was in the sleeper, he was watching too. I just do better when I don't feel like I'm being judged on everything I do wrong.

Any news if the woman survived?
    Newspaper story?
Cause? Did the driver fall asleep at the wheel?

Haven't been able to find any followup on what the cause was or if the girl survived.

Thanks for sharing. I think if I were in the Schneider driver's position, if that were me, I might have to hang up my trucker keys.

Thanks for sharing gravdigr.. I pray God takes care of all involved, including the SNI driver, he will need it, as well as the Woman that survived. I know this will all work out and all will be fine, including you big guy.. I need to hear stories like this to keep me from getting complacent. I pray we all stay on our A game, as CMV drives.

    God Bless

I'm going to have to agree.

With service in Iraq I can tell you that even though you get to the point where you halfway expect something tragic to happen, you will never be affected any less.

    Gears and SheepDog Thank this.
