I am not entirely sure if this is the right place for this, but need to ask.

What is the significance of knowing whether or not an applicant has attended a truck driving school? That seems to be the very first question out of most recruiters' mouths, company recruiters and driver placement guys alike.

This question was asked the other day in class and our instructor explained it to the class that the company that you have applied to wants to see how your attendance was and how well your grades are during the time that you spent at the truck driving school. Also to see what kind of level of training that you recieved. So they will pull your transcripts from the school that you have attended. Also there are some trucking co's. that only acknowledge certain schools. Hope this helps. Peter

Most mega carriers required a min.of 150 or more hours of truck driving training from a approved school, there only a few that don't but most all do.Also while we are on this subject, most of your mega or starter companies required you do have attend a trucking school within the last 90 days,if you don't then they will tell you to take a refeasher course. Now if you got at lease 3 months otr experience within the last 12 months, starter companies may take you with no issues but more likely put you with a trainer for week or two.

Soon. it will be a Federal requirement for ALL CDL holders to have graduated from a accredited truck driving school. Furthermore, companies want to get that information for insurance reasons. Most people do not know that 50% of truck schools through the nation will soon disappear due to these regulations!
